Even though the weather was not cooperative, as it has been unseasonably hot this winter, the crew made plenty of snow and kept the conditions skiable. By afternoon it was slushy, but night skiing and morning skiing were great considering. Had to watch out for some icy spots. And it was crowded so had to avoid weak skiers and snowboarders

We planned a trip back in November for Presidents weekend for snowboarding, tubing and ice-skating. However it was warm this year. We did not cancel our trip and are so glad we went. We did only Snowtube but it was great fun. Was pricey due to holiday weekend $32 for an hour and 45 mins. Everyone had great fun our... More

This is a nice mountain for all levels of skiing. There are a good selection of runs. The prices were pretty reasonable as far as skiing goes as well.

Came to SMR at the end of the winter season for a quick weekend ski trip with the kids. Being that it was their and my husbands first time skiing, we decided to enroll them in ski lessons and rent the equipment directly from the resort. Fair warning to everyone and we went during a non peak time but a... More

The employees (lift operators) at this resort have been intoxicated while at work. When reported to administration nothing was done. In the area are 2 other ski resorts at Beech Mountain and Appalachian Ski Mountain which are much FAMILY FRIENDLY and SAFE!

We went to Sugar Mtn for New Years with the kids and had a really good time. The kids were able to go on the lift and ski after prating in the kid area for some time. There is even a place to leave the kids and the wife and I got to go down together, well kinda together, the... More

Sugar mountain has snowboarding and skiiing. Even though no snow this winter...fake snow was being blown the entire day. Don't stand in front of blowers too long or you will be drenched. Don't go to edge of runs or you hit ice (depending on temperatures). Runs for all levels. Windy at the top he day we went. All staff interaction... More

The addition of the Gunter's Way ski run four years ago and the Summit Express lift were much-needed improvements. As always, the resort gets way too crowded during weekends and holidays, and I vowed never to return to any of these North Carolina resorts anytime other than weekdays. It's unfortunate that the past two seasons have had such sporatic weather.... More

We were fortunate to find #2-107 at Sugar Top Resort and it was GREAT! Beautifully decorated, well-equipped kitchen, and accommodates 5-6. Indoor heated pool and hot tub. Family friendly.
