All the animals at the refuge have a story and there is plenty of staff around to share each of their stories. It is not a big place but we spent a substantial amount of time there getting to know each animal. The animals are treated well and it is clear that the staff truly care about each of them.

We had such a great time visiting, listening to Steve, and seeing all the animals. He is very informed and passionate about animals and the environment. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The people running and working at this refuge are to be commended for their hard work and dedication. I took my 15 year old son, his best friend and my mother in law (who was over from the UK) we rented a really nice cabin on the property and had a real nice 3 day stay. Every staff member were... We loved our visit there even with the cold. It is really clear that they have a huge respect for animals there and that they do great work, with passion! Every person of the staff there was nice and we learned a lot from them! Plus, it's free to visit (we did make donations but it's fun when it's our... More

Was a bit freaky as to how close you are to the animals. Especially the wolves. They began howling as soon as we got out of the car. Honestly that was a bit intimidating. You should definitely check it out.

This was my first visit... keep in mind that there was quiet a bit of snow on the ground and a little on the cold and windy side so we moved through quickly. I did enjoy the visit. The wolves were pretty cool to watch, there was a couple of fox, they had plenty of different birds, a couple of... More

We visited here in late December with our 2 children. It was a snowy day and just beautiful. The animals were great and the guy in charge was very nice and informative. We had a great time!

We visited Lake Placid many times in the past, but didn't know about this place until our recent visit. We rented the house that was walking distance from the refuge and we could hear wolfs and coyotes even inside the house. We're super impressed with the dedication and knowledge of the people (mostly volunteers) working there. Don't miss going there... More

Only thing I would change is having it snow when we were there so the wolves could be in their element.

All sorts of cool animals. Owls, Eagles, Foxes, Wolves, and a lot of various other wild animals that we would never get a chance to see up close and personal otherwise. Amazed out how close a relationship Alex had with the wolves. They really love what they do and its nice to see there is a place for all the... More
