Pleasant place for off season walking and hiking. Nice kids playground. I would imagine its crowded in the summer with the huge pool on one end of the park. Also watch out for deer....yes deer in White Plains. One ran right in front of me at 6 am when I drove by there a few weeks ago. The huge parking lot is used for school bus parking for the City of White Plains, so you would want to watch out for lots of schools buses at certain times.

There are few spots in southern Westchester County that provide the same opportunity to hike in the woods. The trails are well maintained, reasonably well marked, and provide some moderately challenging uphill and downhill sections. I walked the white perimeter trail, about 3 miles. The section running along the Hutchinson River Parkway gets a noticeable amount of traffic noise, but the other two sections (along the golf course and along Saxon Woods Road) are quite. On a beautiful August Sunday, I ran into two groups of two people. It looks like you'll have the trail to yourself.

I am here almost daily doing a vigorous 3 mile loop. The trails behind the swimming pool offer some rigorous hiking, whereas the trails on the other side of the parkway are more forgiving.

I prefer the entrance and trail that is about 1/2 mile south of the main/swimming pool entrance. Trail is relatively flat with some gradual inclines, so just about anybody can walk it.The trail gets a bit muddy in a number of places after rain. The full loop trail take. s about an hour. Ample parking in the main lot. Also lots of picnic tables

We stop by the mini golf once or twice a year as a "change of pace" for something to do. The area also has many restaurants and nightlife nearby.

Pool doesn't get too crowded but sometimes hard to find a spot for your towels or clothes without being too close to others. has a refreshment stand, must be westchester resident. i have a park pass, can bring in certain amount of visitors. Pool and area kept very clean

Not a private course but if I was rating all public courses this would be a five star course. Lots of interesting Holes with dog legs and blind shots. Have to be careful on the 5th 9th and 12th holes as you will not see the players in front of you. 10th hole is a long par 4 and the 16th green is an interesting putting surface. The 8th hole has an narrow approach into the green. Favorite of the Westchester Public courses. Good for the intermediate golfer

A beautiful park right next to a bustling street that connects White Plains and Mamaroneck. Hilly, woodsy, well-marked paths and picturesque streams. Dog friendly too. But there are deer ticks in the park and millions of mosquitos so going in the summer is problematic. Spring and fall are perfect. But wear long pants year-round just in case.

Saxon woods park is a fantastic place to take family on a warm spring or summer day. There is a mini golf course, a small waterpark, hiking routs, soccer fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, and more.
