Bathurst Lighthouse at Sunset

Great to watch the sun set from Bathurst Lighthouse on Rottnest Island. An easy bike ride from the Visitor Centre.

I've been during the day many times and it is a great lighthouse. My main memories from this place are at night. Very late at night, sneaking down to pinkys as a disobedient teenager. I was only one of MANY!! What fun was had by all. Nobody was too greasy or awkward under cover of night and stolen booze. On... More

The lighthouse is at the edge of the island and so you get a 180 degree view of the ocean. You can see Pinky Beach on one side which is accessible from the stairs. There are also seats on the stairwell to rest which face the beach. The Tall stone lighthouse looks like what you expect a lighthouse to look... More

Start your trip to Rottnest with a short walk down the beach to the lighthouse - overlooking Pinky Beach and the Basin. A free bus back to the township at the end if you are looking to save money.

This is a great lighthouse to aim for on your bikes heading up Thomson Bay from the jetty and overlooking the beautiful, and rather wind swept, Pinky Beach.

While you cannot enter this lighthouse, it is one of the best vantage points to capture a sunset photo. Set up your tripod on the step declining to the beach and take a time lapse sunset video. You'll want to invest about half an hour to get it from start to finish (dark).

Went there for a sunset one night. It was very nice and got an almost surreal twilight there with the moon and the setting sun.

Even though we did not go all the way to the top of the lighthouse, the views are amazing even from ground level and certainly worth a walk up the hill. Take your camera!

Easy walk up stairs to the lighthouse base from Pinkys beach. Its a functional lighthouse so you can actually go inside. Many people have left locked padlocks along the railing wires, maybe this is to lock up their memory of such a lovely spot. Worth sitting up there in an evening to watch the sun set.

The Bathurst Lighthouse, or as the locals call it, the "Little Lighthouse", sits on wild rocks on the north-east side of the Island, on Bathurst Point. It is one of two lighthouses on Rottnest Island, the other being Wadjemup Lighthouse (or the "Big Lighthouse") at the West End of the Island. Beside it is the Lighthouse Keepers Cottage, a beautiful... More
