Greeted on decking by pet dog who just loved a pat. Staff lovely, wines beautiful and also have assortment of soaps and creams available. Loved on the verandah overlooking Vinyard.

The problem is this winery claims to be open but we were not informed of the new owner that was a dog that greeted us by barking relentlessly. Whilst walking back to the car, this dog actually came out to the verandah and kept barking at us from afar. What is going on? We made an effort to drive to this winery although it was out of the way due to the rave reviews on Tripadvisor. Has this place gone to the dogs?

Hiya, sorry for your bad experience at Galafrey. Some facts. Galafrey has been own by same family/owners for 45 years and the dog has been with us for 13. He is an older dog with poor eye sight. He is also a Jack Russell so can be territorial and have a load bark for a little dog. Most people love Bruce! in fact the review straight after this is 5 stars and loves the dog?? You review seems a little harsh? We are 5 star winery with great service, wines and location. We are only 10 kms from town too. Welcome to come back and try again. cheers

Galafrey winery is located in a beautiful part of the great southern and has in my opinion the best Riesling I have tasted. This winery is a family run business and all of their wine is small batch and made with so much care and dedication that you can taste it in every glass. I look forward to returning again.

This is a wonderful family run vineyard. It’s not fancy and is a little bit off the beaten track but the wine is worth the journey. They are also doing a great job of distribution through independent bottle shops and restaurants - check their website for details.

Bit disappointed. Stopped by here to pick up some wine at 10am and it was closed. Even waited for a few minutes after. They may need to change their opening hours??

Hiya, I am so sorry we missed you. Generally pre Christmas is a slow time at Cellar door so we take a few days off for some much needed time with our young family. It is always tricky as a family business to take away especially as we don't employ any staff. We advertised the closure on FB, at the visitor centre, other wineries and other online channels but in the future we will try and improve this. We pride ourselves on our five star wines and I am genuinely disappointed that we have upset you. Our Cellar door is open again on 27th Dec and If you wish to come back I would be happy to offer you 15% off any purchases or the same on our online website. Just let me know. We hope to see you again soon. cheers and Merry Christmas.

One of the few wineries in the area that is open 7 days a week and it is on the way to Denmark so we thought we would stop in. Very quiet spot up on the hill overlooking a valley and one of the oldest vineyards in the region. Lovely flavours to all the wines we tasted my favourites being the pinot and one made with Muller grapes one of four places in the country that grow them as they need the cooler temps to ripen which makes it hard grape to use. The wine wow well worth it.

Just a little drive out of Mount Barker is a lovely little spot for Galafrey Wines. The day we came it was very quiet so the beautiful views were easy to appreciate without too much background noise. The owner and her dog were very friendly (I love dogs which was why the animal was allowed to remain nearby). We were specifically after a port and theirs is just amazing. Made in a traditional Portuguese manner (I hope I got that right). Nevertheless, it is a really smooth and tasty item. Really glad we didn't miss this one

Don't miss this winery - they have such good wines, high quality and really yummy. And the people who own and run it - so friendly - why we keep coming back over and over again.
