- Karim MaaroufCairo, Egypt949 contributionsNice views up and down the liftThis is a solo chair lift that goes all the way up and down from Monte Solaro. The views on the way down are actually nicer when you are facing downwards. There was quite a queue to get tickets, but it was well worth it and the views from the top were amazing.Visited August 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 21 October 2023
- Nikki BWatford, United Kingdom674 contributionsSpectacular view from the top via chairliftsDecided to get a great view via the chairlift. It’s €14 per person. Well worth it but it’s a little scary if you aren’t keen on heights. The view at the top was spectacular. We got off, had a look around, took some great photos. There is a toilet up there in case you were wondering which costs you 50 cents. Everywhere in Capri costs you 50 cents for the toilet. There was also a nice looking restaurant up there if you have the time.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 October 2023
- charlotte-italiaMilan, Italy124 contributionsFantastic view of the Mediterranean Sea and the tiny island (10 km2)This 1 person chairlift goes to the top a Monte Solaro, the highest point on Capri. I was honestly a little nervous as I rattled off, but the view calmed my nerves. From the mountain you have a view both of the Bay of Naples, with the islands of Ischia and Prcida to the north, and to the south you can see Marina Piccola on Capri and the three cliffs - I Faraglioni, and the Gulf of Salerno. In high season there is a bar on the mountain. The trip is absolutely worth the 14 euros (ticket 2023)Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 December 2023
- Melanie TNew York City, New York7,027 contributionsA must when visiting CapriA must if you are visiting Capri! Though if you are afraid of heights, this one may not be for you. It’s a chairlift that is continuously moving, and it slows down a bit for you to hop on, where a moveable metal bar acts as your protection from falling out of the chair. Though I made that sound pretty terrifying, it seems relatively safe. As long as you’re not shifting about while you’re up there, which you probably wouldn’t want to anyway. Seats are for single riders, unless you have a small child, in which case, they’ll have to sit on your lap. Tickets are €11 one way or €14 round trip. But I can’t imagine why you would buy a one way. Perhaps you can hike up/down? But I didn’t see anyone doing that. It takes about 7 minutes each way, and we spent maybe 30 minutes at the top taking pictures/walking around. There is a little cafe at the top, and a toilet but it costs €1. If you want to see Capri from way up above, this is the thing to do!Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 May 2024
- GoHawksAnkenyIowaAnkeny, Iowa645 contributionsFun, great viewsEnjoyed the chair lift. Had to wait in line for a ticket, there is a place to store backpacks right by where you buy tickets but is optional. Chair lift has a bar that comes down but is not latched in. You see backyards as you go up the mountain but also great views of the coast. Once you're at the top you can pay to use the bathroom or spend time with the view. When ready you get back on the chair lift and go back down. The chair lift doesn't stop so there are workers to help you.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 June 2024
- menhbHuntington Beach, California871 contributionsFun ExperienceThis was a fun way together to the top of Anacapri. It was well organized, efficient & provided great views. Unless you have an extreme fear of heights it is not that scary. Like a ski chair lift easy on easy off. Highly recommend.Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 14 June 2024
- Rachel KlaymanBoston, Massachusetts75 contributionsMust Do ExperienceBeautiful sights of Capri, a wonderful and unique way to see this special island. Individual chair lift ride up to the highest point of the island. Enjoy the views, a shop and restaurant if you’d like and then make your way back down round trip. Must see, but only once in your life. Be prepared to wait in lines, as regardless of purchasing your tickets ahead of time everyone waits in the same line. It can get a bit chaotic and hectic in line so be sure you are paying attention and not letting anyone cut you. You can purchase your ticket as soon as you get inside the building.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 July 2024
- hollyBath, United Kingdom32 contributionsIncredible experience!Incredible experience! The chair lift was the highlight of our day trip to Capri / Anacapri, luckily when we arrived there was a wait of no more than 5 minutes before getting on the lift so don’t be put off by potential long queues. There are free lockers that you can use to store personal belongings before going on the lift. The views are amazing and it is a must do experience!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 August 2024
- bcaha1,857 contributionsNot my favoriteI'm glad I did this, but have no desire to ever do it again. The very last segment going up was a bit scary for me, but I looked inland instead of out over the water and got through it. The rest of the ride was fine with beautiful views. It was easy to get on and off with the help of the people working there. Once we got to the top it was mostly cloudy so we couldn't see too much. Only spent about 5 minutes at the top, so it was a quick turnaround for us.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 September 2024

It was worth the wait in the queue for the ride to the top of the island on this chairlift, views from the top are stunning. It's easier to take photos on the way down than going up.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 September 2024

I can’t mark a 0, so I’ll give a 1. We read online that this was open until 4:30, but when walking up at 2pm, we saw the building said closed, but had mean doing what looked like playing cards inside. When we asked about times we were rudely brushed off and told to come back tomorrow. Biggest waste of time, considering this and the Blue Grotto were the only things we came for all the way from Rome. Not to mention, there’s absolutely no food open in March.
0/10. Never again.

One of the best Capri experiences. From the panoramic terrace you can admire the best views of Capri not only on the Faraglioni but also on the other islands and the Sorrento peninsula. The chairlift ride takes 15 minutes and is very pleasant (if you do not suffer from dizziness). The chairlift departs from the village of Anacapri, you can leave your backpacks in the depot. The cost (14€) is not cheap but it is money well spent considering the view that the mountain offers!

Nice but no big deal. It pays to buy a round trip and stop a little above on the belvedere (there is also a very nice panoramic bar). Even for those suffering from dizziness it is a nice experience as it does not get up too much and goes very slowly.

The chairlift connects Anacapri to the top of Monte Solaro and is a small jewel that has almost seventy years of history.
On the wooden seats of the chairlift, travelers from all over the world reach Monte Solaro through a breathtaking ascent.
You take your wooden seat that slowly reaches the arrival station in Monte Solaro.
The duration of the journey is about 13 minutes at a speed that allows you to admire the view and enjoy a romantic journey on the slopes of the west side of the island from which you can admire the Gulf of Naples and the islands of Ischia and Procida.
Once there, you can admire the splendid view and relax on one of the terraces which also have a bar.

Opens at 930, which is a shame as it would be better even earlier as was already over 90 when we reached the top before 10am. Not a lot of breeze, surprisingly. Views better on way back down. For all mon skiers or snowboarders who doint know how to mount and dismount a chairlift please observe how its down rather than putting yourself at risk of injury and forcing the staff to stop the chair.
