Well worth visiting, especially if you have an interest in Sweden or Swedish history. Axel Munthe was a truly interesting person, way before his time in many aspects.

Population 14,000. Daily visitors 20,000. So how can you enjoy stunning views, beautiful gardens, superb lunch, tour of a villa with interesting historical heritage? Arrive at the Marina Grande port on one of the floating ferry anthills, grab one of the 7 seater taxis and...More

Go early when it's cooler and you will enjoy a wander around a small historical treasure. And have it all to yourself. If particular delight are the beautiful shaded gardens with sculptures and the beautiful little chapel (now a concert room) with its granite sphinx...More

The villa San Michele is located in Anacapri. To get there, the best and cheapest is to take the bus from Marina Grande to Anacapri (but you may have to be very patient as queues are very often to take the overcrowded buses), or a...More

We discovered Axel Munthes when we planned our trip to Anacapri. And we were seduced by his life's story, his dedication, and what he (and those who did the physical work) created at the Villa and Tower San Michel.

We were visiting Anacapri for the day, and it's an easy walk to Villa San Michele (former home of Axel Munthe). Beautiful Villa, gardens, views....

This is one of the best things to see on Capri. The garden and villa are so beautiful. For 8 euro you can get away from the crowds and take wonderful pictures on the villa's terraces. When I went there, there were very few people...More

This reknowned villa had great views and a nice walk, but the highly regarded gardens didn't have unusual plant material and were just ordinary in my opinion.

Ditto! A very nice stroll to get there, a few steps in the house and in the garden but nothing worth noting. Don't miss it!
Are there hair dryers and tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.

This is a museum and a cafe. No hairdryers from what I noticed.
