Compared to many other popular beaches of Rhodes, super equipped, super served and also super expensive, here it seems another island... long mostly free coast, with the possibility of taking 2 sunbeds and umbrella for 10 €... very little in Rhodes. Rather spartan, but there are showers and a bar little stocked and little recommended, but very useful for drinks. Ample possibility of free parking. But above all the sea is a spectacle, it looks like a swimming pool, perhaps the best water of Rhodes... in fact it is definitely a stop for residents. Advice for those who have as their only claim a beautiful sea

We first came to this beach 25 years ago and quite honestly nothing has really changed. Yes there are a few welcome sunbeds with shade and the all important taverna which wasn’t originally here but this all added to a great day, swimming in clear water and simply relaxing. If you like a sophisticated spot for the day, perhaps this wouldn’t be for you.
Must give some cudos to the chap running the small taverna from his VW van. Albeit with a few modifications.
My husband ordered souvlaki and fries which considering his limited space managed to serve up the most freshest tasting food we have eaten on a beach. Homemade fries were cooked to perfection! Greek salad was plentiful and again fresh and tasty.
Cold drinks a plenty made this a welcome break from the intense sun.
Just a perfect day......

A very long potentially amazing beach. The surroundings are a litter strewn wasteland. Anyone coming by bus do not get off at Afandou Golf bust stop you need to get off at Afandou Bay stop.
Wouldn't come back.

Very large beach, mostly free. There are also 2 beaches where you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas for 10 euros (we opted for that of the kind lady, on the left). Possibility of free parking. Pebble beach. Uncrowded and beautiful sea. Just a small kiosk on the beach for something to eat and drink (better bring food because it doesn't look like quality food). Free shower on the beach and also bathrooms. On the beach there is a stand for water sports (eg jet skiing).

Long natural sand/pebble beach. Dreamlike clear sea. Swimming is good as the water is only shallow for the first few meters and then soon becomes deep. You don't need bathing shoes.
There are beach sections with sunbeds & umbrellas, toilets and gastronomy.
Since the beach is very long and also wide, there is no crowd here. Enough space for everyone!
We paid 14,— per day for 2 sunbeds with umbrella.
On other beaches, depending on the season and the row, up to 40,— are required!

Very long and practically deserted beach, made up of very small pebbles.
Parking is free and there is a small kiosk equipped with everything.
Comfortable sunbeds with mattress and straw umbrellas for only €10 for the whole day (in the combo 2 sunbeds + 1 umbrella)!!
Silence and tranquility reign.
Never seen such clean water.

One of the few beaches in Rhodes where there is tranquility. A very long coastline with little sand and many pebbles, absolutely transparent water and immediately quite deep. Sunbeds and umbrella 10 euros, a rarity for Rhodes, where you can no longer find anything for less than 15-20 euros. As a bar, in the Kantina establishment, there is only a caravan equipped with drinks and something to eat which I wouldn't trust, given the almost lukewarm coffee frappe, prepared by the lady, who is a little in difficulty

A nice beach for somewhere to cool off. There is a small watersports place do hire a het ski, peddalo kind of thing. Sunbeds are 5 euros each, worth it given the pebbles.
There is a kantina for refreshments but be aware he can be shadey and tried to rip you off. Just have ypur wits about you.
Otherwise a nice pebble beach to chill out

A beautiful beach made of pebbles, crystal clear sea, the water is after a few steps high. 2 sunbeds with umbrella 10€, Recommendation to bring cash as many bars along the beach do not take the card. Recommended if you want to relax!

Gorgeous beach, 2 sunloungers, parasol and 2 bottles of water 14euros by the bar. Sea is perfect for swimming in, water is so clear and isn't nearly as crowded as other beaches on the island. Just be careful when first going in the sea as its very stony for the first 2feet, would recommend this beach though as its beautiful

Hi have just read your review on Afandou beach. I notice you stayed at the Nimar, and as that is where we are staying in just over 2 weeks, could you give me any more info on what the beach has in way of a taverna sun beds and brollies etc., we have never been to this part of Rhodes before, so any advice on catching buses to Rhodes town or to Faliraki beach or any other beach that we could visit would be very useful. We don't drive now so have to use public transport. Thanks.

I’m sorry I don’t know where it says that I stayed at the Nimar? We didn’t, we stayed in Ialyosos. It was my 3rd visit to Rhodes.
We hired a car which worked out at €20 a day having it fit more than 3 days. There are plenty of bus stops and bus routes. I’m not sure about all hotels but the excursions from our hotel, in my opinion, were over priced. You can easily do all activities you wish if you carefully plan prior to your visit, make notes of all bus stops and their times.
The Island is beautiful and it doesn’t take too long to get to and from some fantastic places.
Do you like to see and experience the history or are you looking for beaches? If it’s beaches then I recommend all of these:
Lindos
Anthony Quinn’s bay
Pefki
Let me know if there’s anything else you would like to knoe

Hello! I’m coming to Afandou in July and wondered if there was bike hire? Many thanks
Written 30 January 2018
Hi there Lydia, I didn't see one but there isn't much at all in Afandou and, as we went at the end of September, things were closing down. I believe there was a motorbike hire on the square in town. Sorry I can't be of further help to you. Enjoy your holiday to Afandou. Lynne
