The best view is from across the street only. Once you go closer the area is not actually inviting and we just ended walking ahead.

Malindi Mosque is the oldest mosque of Zanzibar, about 500 years old. It is located in densely populated area of Malindi near the Ferry Terminal and mouth of Zanzibar port. It has a unique cone type minaret on a square platform which is very rare in Muslim world. It is the oldest part of Stone Town with narrow winding streets... More

The Mosque is situated in the Malindi district of Stone Town close to the harbour entrance. The mosque is an old structure and like most of the buildings in the town it is not well kept. The entrance is up a narrow side alley. The inside is very basic with as basic ablution facilities for worshipers. I did not find... More

Zanzibar's (translates as GINGER Island) is the historical spice island on the ancient trade route. The capital Stone Town is an explorer's delight. Convenient vicinity adjacent to beachfront promenade. A spiritual insight into the intensely proud Muslim identity of Zanzibaris.

This mosque is actually not the largest mosque in Stone Town. However it is in Malindi which is a bustling area near the center of Stone Town. Access to the mosque is not quite simple. Worth a visit.

This is the oldest mosque in town. The place is very busy with people coming in and out all the time. It's not that hard to find this place. From where the ferries goes, just walk the opposite way to the town center, and you will be on Malindi Street. From there it's the first right at the mini-market and... More
