We certainly did not expect to find this old Hindu temple while walking through the streets of Zanzibar. It is small and bit run down but worth oking your nose in for five minutes.

I think this temple is about 100 years old. It have various Hindu God statues. I think that it is NOT well looked after and there were many pigeons in the veranda. The floor was covered with pigeon droppings. To get near the God statues...More

Quite peaceful, this small temple in the narrow street of Zanzibar shows the influences of Indians being blessed to worship in the great land.

This Hindu place of worship is located in the heart of Stone Town. There are regular Aartis and Prayers and free food served.

Finding a Hindu Temple in the narrow streets of Stone Town is no easy feat. However. the Shakti Temple is worth a visit as there are so few of them in Zanzibar and this one is quite a well run peaceful place. Recommended!
