My friend and I did the spice tour and it was a very interesting experience we can recommend...An absolute must do in Zanzibar...You get to smell, touch and try an incredible amount of spices and fruits! We learned a lot from this tour and we even got a little city tour from our guide after the spice tour. You should definitely... More

See the spices as they grow. Experience the sights and smells and tastes of spices right off the root or vine.

interesting experience, saw how cardamon, vanilla, coffee, cocoa, mango, lemongrass and many more grow, Don't expect to look like a proper plantation or farm, its less "organized", but still interesting to see how a community takes care of it.

I was a bit disappointed with this tour. The pickup of everyone took about an hour as we had to go to different hotels to pick up everyone going on the tour. The spice farm didn't look like what I had in mind. One of the other tour member's even asked if it was a farm or a random forest... More

Overall we were a little bit disappointed. Was interesting to see all the spices they have there, but we were walking behind a group and have been followed by an other group, stops just at the right tree and at the end spices to buy which were almost doubled price than on the market

Affordable (around 10 to 15 USD per person), this cultural activity is one of the things to do, to understand and enjoy the Zanzibar cuisine and history. The guide will take true some plantation of spice and fruit from the island near stone town. You will have the opportunity to feel, see, smell and taste the different spice of the... More

The tour is offered by many so called spice farms on the island. In fact they are not rally farms (at least not the one I visited) - they are some plots of land where there are few plants of each type. However, you can see there the plants producing most of the spices we use in the kitchen.

We discovered a lot of new things and the kids were excited to learn. The tour is certainly interesting, but a bit more attention to facilities would be great and there is a bit of shopping pressure which always leaves a sour aftertaste. It also took much longer than we had planned for.

This is a government run facility, but no facilities ! We were shown round by our guide who enlisted the help of a young boy, who would climb up trees and find us leaves and spices ! The plantation is up an unmade road and we were shown round by our guide. At the end of our tour we were... More

A wonderful tour exploring, finding and tasting the different spices and fruits found on the island. A good guide makes ALL the difference! This is a worthwhile excursion which ends with a feast of fruit in the forest.
