This full day excursion is suitable for anyone, from those who wish to completely relax to those who want adventure and excitement. We board at the hotel and then set sail towards Prison Island, to see the remains of the prison built to condemn Zanzibari citizens to isolation and watch the giant tortoises shuffle through the trees, with the patience that old age brings. From there we will do some snorkeling with a guide and teacher to see the stunning array of coloured corals and tropical fish of the islands. Then hop back onboard and let us sail you away to a sand bank where brilliant birdlife exists. For the more active discover more underwater life around the sandbank and listen to stories from our crew about sailing the seven seas. We will slowly sail back to Stone Town after soaking up the sun and return back to the Serena Inn by 03:30pm, relaxed and fall more in love with Zanzibar than you thought imaginable!

There are different types of trips available to Sandbank, some combined with Prison Island, some half day, full day, some with barbecue etc. Our trip was a simple half day to Prison island and sandbank on a dhow. It was the best snorkeling I have ever done, so sorry I never had my waterproof camera case with me as no... More

This is an opportunity to come to a clean, white beach with good snorkeling close by. We arranged a trip with Mohammed. Remember to check that the tent they put up for you is in fabric, not plastic

loved every moment of it! Sailing on the dhow was a great experience. We very quickly became friendly with all on the dhow which made the whole trip so much more memorable. Fantastic snorkeling, purest water and the food - brilliant!

My partner and I used the Dhow safaris for a walking tour in stone town and a prison island tour, but none of their services reached our expectations. They kept reminding us with emails of how they wanted us to book them which was tiring. We finally accepted to go with them. First of all, the walking tour guide left... More

This is an experience not to be missed. You sail out on a traditional Dhow to a sandbank in the middle of the ocean with a lunch to dine out on. All you see is ocean around you, hot tubbing in the water, drinks in hand. One of the most amazing experiences we have ever had - an absolute must.... More

Pick up and drop off in Stonetown, delivery to a solitary sandbank uncovered by the falling tide and a few glorious hours in the sun on your own piece of sand surrounded by water. Whats not to like?

During the periods of higher tides, if you time your arrival with the end of high tide, you can watch this beautiful white sand emerging from beneath the waves, like Moby Dick. Within minutes, you have an island with seabirds playing along the water's edge. The island continues to grow to a very impressive size. Ten minutes from end to... More
