I was here on Easter Sunday and it was great that there was an English language Holy Communion in the side chapel. The Swahili language service was taking place in the main part of the cathedral and was well attended.
It was so sad to see the memorial to the slave trade just next door and to know what terrible suffering took place there.

you can see this cathedral with one museum ticket with the slaves jails to the price of 5 us dollars ,it is a small tour but it can be interesting especially because you can see the jails and in the cathedral you can see something regarding the salve trade

We visited here after visiting the slave market, our mood was somber. Our guide explained all about the history of the church which I will not spoil for you because it is really interesting. It is beautiful in a simplistic way but the history in here is so complex.

I am so glad that we were able to make it to the church...it was a wonderful site to see. The ground keepers do a wonderful job with the upkeep of this church.

It is very interesting to visit the Cathedral and learn the history of colonialism in Zanzibar. The church is quite architecturally interesting and rather beautiful. It was built to sanctify the place of the former slave market. The building succeeds in this effort while also drawing attention to the horrors of the past

Don't miss the story of the slave trade. It will break your heart. There is a small fee - but the displays are very well done.

The Cathedral is beautiful, although not an architectural masterpiece, but it plays an important role in Zanzibar's history. In my view, a must visit if you want to know a little more about the history of slavery.

There are many wonderful stories in this church. The remnat of the slave whipping post. The original burial place for Mr. Livingston. The pillars in the rear that were put in upside down due to the fact that the bishop had gone home and the men put them in upside down.

We attended a service in this beautiful church then visited the slavery exhibition. This is a must as the cathedral is built on the site of the slave market. There was a final reminder that modern day slavery still exists for millions of people. Very well done exhibition.

We visited the church with the guide who explained something about the history of the Cathedral and some curiosity concerning the construction.
