My mistake was coming to this faire. Was here many years ago and enjoyed it, but they just let too many people in. There should be a cap on the amount of visitors. Bring cash huge line at ATM machines. Food is expensive and nothing to brag about. Water is $5 a bottle, we smuggled water in. Be prepared to walk unless you pay $20 to park. Shows were entertaining especially Aarron Bonk and Supernova Woman, they did deserve a tip. In my opinion these were the best 2 shows were saw, but the others were entertaining. It was also fun to watch people axe and knife throwing. Ladies room was disgusting.

I've been going there for about 20 years. It's changed over time. I still enjoy going. It is a fun day. Some people get dressed in Renaissance period clothes which you can rent or buy if you are so inclined.

The thing I miss most is when they performed Shakespearian plays.

This was my first time to the NY Ren Faire and I had a good time. My daughter, 6 y.o. had a great time. The main problem is with the cost. For me, my husband and my daughter it was about $125 dollars to get in. For that price of admission, one would think there would be lots of entertainment, or at least not that you wouldn't be nickel and dimed (or rather five to twenty dollared) for everything. The food and drinks are extremely expensive. There are a handful of rides and games for the kids (though the adults are welcome too) all of which are about five dollars to play. And the rides are really all just swings that are people powered - i.e. there is a staffperson pushing them. Though admittedly seeing the work that goes into pushing some of those when filled with kids did make me feel a bit guilty grousing about the price. There were no lines when we got there though we got there early afternoon after some traffic delays traveling from Brooklyn. No lines for food or entry. The audience for a few of the performances - especially the jousting - was full and hard to find a seat. The cat acrobat wasn't that great and I found her patter and constant requests for applause and validation quite cringe-y. The joust we watched was quite bloody (fake blood), which was actually kind of funny but if you have kids be warned. We tried to watch a magician and some other performance of play fighting (very badly done play sword fighting, also cringe-y) but my daughter was bored by it. It was a beautiful day and the setting is admittedly gorgeous. Just walking around was nice, because the shops are cute and the buildings seem well maintained. There are some ponds /lakes and you can even rent a paddleboat. We weren't expecting to have to pay 20 for parking and over $75 for lunch (with a drink for me ) so we quickly ran out of cash and all the on site ATMS were out of order. If you know what to expect and get there early enough to enjoy the entertainment and you don't mind dropping several hundred dollars, this can be an enjoyable day.

Like so many other reviewers my family and I waited more than an hour and a half to travel two miles for parking. Given how many years this company has operated the faire at this location there was no excuse for the mismanagement and disorganization. I hadn't been to the NY Res-Faire in many years, and was terribly disappointed in how utterly commercial it has become. No outside food or beverage is permitted so, after spending $175 for five tickets and $20 for parking (unbelievable!), we dropped another $150 on lunch and drinks. Only one performer in the jousting show was mic'd so we couldn't hear it, the disgusting outhouses had no toilet paper in them, and there was no soap in the sinks. Crowded, expensive and commercial. Worst day of the summer. What a waste of money. We won't go back.

The free parking situation is horrible. Once you are within a mile of the faire, the traffic slows to a crawl and will take 1-2 hours to park and actually leave your vehicle. The "preferred" parking is $20 and fills up fast. Absolutely insane that this is considered acceptable.

The prices are horrible, $48 entry ticket. $15 for a single beer. $13+ for any food option. Nearly all places are cash only. The cheap trinkets at every shop, $10 or more for junk. Double or triple the price of anything you could find on etsy, only with worse quality.

The actual faire? It is not Renaissance, it's dress up as anything for drunks. Why is someone dressing up as Iron Man? The place is completely crowded with lines being 15 minutes or longer. Every inch smells like weed or flavored vape.

The free shows and demonstrations were pretty average overall. Entertaining, but not worth the entry price. The acting wasn't that bad and seemed well practiced. That's the only reason this is a 2/5.

I feel scammed, overall.

Warning. This Renaissance Faire wants to cover up the bad reviews from last year on Google by deleting their previous page and making a new one filled with new positive reviews. They also like to turn off comments on social media pages to silence negative critique.

I have attended this Faire for a few years and it used to be one of my favorite Ren Faires. 2023 was a nightmare. This Faire has been ruined by corporate greed that seeks to benefit off of how popular ren faires are on TikTok by overselling tickets to a dangerous degree.

Online it says to arrive early due to traffic. We got to the location 2 hours before the gates opened and still had to wait in a line of cars for 2 hours to park. Once we finally got into the Faire, we spent an hour on line for food, half an hour for drinks, an hour for a bathroom. We weren't able to get into a majority of the shops because of crowds and lines waiting to get in. We didn't get to experience much while we were there, and while normally I would spend around 2k on items from vendors, I left there with nothing. Lines would be so long that they spilled onto walkways, making it dangerous and almost impossible for disability access. We will never return.

i WAS a fan of NYRF but because of the incompetence of the parking staff and the long lines in the faire i will find somewhere else to spend my money. After all these years you would figure they would streamline the parking and food lines but i guess they did no think it was needed, also with raising the price of tickets and not improving in any way. The performers were great but not worth the hassle.

Wow, what has happened to the Faire? We have attend this Faire for over 20 years and are astonished by the negative changes. It now is $54 for a single ticket for the same shows( which is tolerable) but a single adult beverages is $12 in a what is almost a bathroom mouth wash cup. Food is barely above McDonald's at 3 times the cost. The roaming smokers also drag down the environment. The atmosphere no longer gives you a feel of Renaissance. This is so sad.Do not waste your money.

Really should be 2.5 stars, but that is not an option here.
Had not been here in over 15 years and was not overly impressed. Meh.
Attended on opening day last Saturday. Arrived closer to noon than the 10:00 AM start so perhaps I missed all of the excitement. By the time that I arrived, the place was stone quiet: no wandering minstrels; no strolling wenches; no over-the-top fools to interact with the masses. This persisted throughout the day until closing.
Many of the stage acts seemed to lack a certain "oomph" that used to be there. One notable exception was The Flaming Ginger who was very quick-witted and engaged his audience with an acerbic wit. Well done, you.
On the positive side, it was good to see that the permanent buildings have been spruced up and given new life. When I was last there, the place was well on its way to being tumbledown.
Also, all of the vendors were outgoing and accommodating. Some even used "good morrow" and "thank thee" phrasing (and similar) which used to be virtually universal practice. Hope that the owners and director continue to bring this practice back.
Please, bring back Shakespeare as well...

This was our third time here. It took half an hour to get to the parking lot so Management please do something about that in future events (maybe open the lots at 9.30 to allow easier access to it). We enjoyed the food despite the long lines. There was quite a variety of choices and also desserts available. Plenty of interesting shows and performances to see. Kids were well behaved was what we also observed whilst here. Nice costumes folks had on and fun to watch. Wish we had more time to see everything, but it was a 2-hour ride going home with some traffic. Another suggestion for next time: Offer some more discounts on tickets (besides Walgreens - they do not participate in my town) because you have families of 3 to 4 or more people who wished they could go to the faire.
