The grounds are beautiful and the house is a different design. The furniture isn't rich looking, but that is what he had in his house at that time. It is amazing to see the Hudson River right there and a railroad on the side of his house. Very interesting. Enjoyed walking around the grounds.

It is a small historic house on a large property. Irving designed the house himself, and it incorporates many European influences from the American Romantic period. Visiting as we did in December was not an ideal time to explore the grounds, but the house was a great tour with very knowledgeable guides.

Perfect place for a charming and thrilling "Sleepy Hollow" Halloween experience. My partner brought me here for a Spooky surprise after we also attended the Halloween procession of the damned at St. John the Divine in Manhattan. Loved both, but Sunnyside's Sleepy Hollow reading and enactment was special. Charmingly naive, quirky, spooky .... like a village play back in the day. The professional narrator was epic. I know he's a big deal on Youtube and various platforms, I can see why. Will def be back. Thank you all!

The history of Sunnyside was definitely worth doing the tour. The staff was very informative and knowledgeable. The Rockefellers bought the estate when Washington Irving passed away to keep the legend alive. Everything in the estate was original after his passing. “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow lives”
