Lovely little lighthouse with some awesome views of the Tappan Zee (Mario Cuomo) Bridge. Access to the lighthouse itself is currently closed but there a walkway from the Kingsland Point County Park that you can take there. Right now they have a community project there with a long mural wall of art along the waterside. It is quite lovely.

I’m not sure why the reviews are so bad, because this is a very beautiful spot. It’s excellent for photography, and is a great spot to look at the Hudson and the Mario cuomo bridge. The path was pretty well taken care of, just some minor trash laying around, and it’s flat and handicapped accessible. There’s a steel deck bridge that brings you right to the lighthouse.

Don’t bother. If the lighthouse is pretty, you’ll never know. For us, it was almost impossible to find (GPS sent us initially to an abandoned parking lot), the area was blocked off, and yet there was a $4 entrance fee to scour the area close to but not within visual contact of the lighthouse.

At first (after returning from the abandoned parking lot) we thought that we had done right by parking at a nearby park, but that was merely a glorified swing set park with an occasional subway train in transit. It wasn’t possible to walk from there to the lighthouse as we thought, so we got back in the car after lunch and drove up the official park entrance only to learn that the lighthouse was inaccessible.

One star for being an attraction that wasted our time and which we ultimately couldn't see!

My girlfriends and I made a trip out to Tarrytown this past weekend. When researching things to do here, the lighthouse came up. We drove to Kingsland Park and parked ($8 parking fee for non-residents). Walking along the river, we reached a big gate that said the lighthouse was closed. There was a callbox next to the gate, but it wasn't working. After debating whether or not we should climb through the hole in the gate, we decided to go for it (apparently it's allowed). We reached the small bridge to the lighthouse, crossed it and entered. This is a really small lighthouse, but a landmark nonetheless. Inside is a tiny museum of the history of the lighthouse. You can climb all the way to the top. There was a man sitting at the top who can answer any questions you have and who gives short tours. The view from the top is really nice!

The lighthouse isn't the prettiest of all lighthouses, but the walk on the river trail paralleling the Hudson is both scenic and relaxing. There is a bridge (shown in the picture) that allows you to walk around the lighthouse and get glimpses inside

We had lunch at Bridge View Tavern and could see the Lighthouse in the distance. Currently, there is construction so the walk is a bit longer than usual, but worth it! The views of the river are amazing and there is a mural in progress just past the lighthouse that makes the walk well worth it!

Could not actually access the lighthouse because the area was fenced off. I suppose we could have went through the hole but it did not seem right.

This isn't really worth the drive because unless you come when the tour is.

What is even more historical is the SuperFund site that you have to walk past to get to the lighthouse. It is the defunct GM factory that is contaminated with high concentrations of various heavy metals. We were FASCINATED by our first visit to the SuperFund site, and we recommend it. The lighthouse was just ok.

If you have never visited a lighthouse you are in for a real treat with this one. You can only visit the grounds and go inside of the lighthouse on special days when they are running the tour. The lighthouse is inside a park so you can walk around the park & see the lighthouse from within the park but can not go on the grounds of the lighthouse. You can get some nice pictures from the park of the Lighthouse and the bridge.

Really cool lighthouse that jets out into the Hudson. Great walk along the water front to get there. Unable to do a tour not available at the time but would if it was.
