We tried to go since the website said viewing the grounds was free. When we arrived we found it was $5 per person to walk around. Since we had a party of 9, this was not a possibility. The website was not accurate. :(

Interesting tour of gothic mansion on the Hudson River. Enthusiastic guides and interesting history make a stop here worthwhile.

Lyndhurst is a national treasure. It's beautifully preserved, has staggering views of the Hudson River and the history of the estate is just mesmerizing. It is a place you can visit again and again. Also, the grounds are stunning.

Yes, tickets can be purchased at the castle, but I would strongly suggest purchasing online prior to your visit. I've seen people turned away due to tickets being sold out.

From the Lyndhurst website: June through September, Tours on the hour: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 10:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Monday, 12:00-4:00 PM. Last Tour at 4:00 PM. I would check the website for other times of the year... More
