Overlooking the Hudson River in Tarrytown, New York, is Lyndhurst, one of America’s finest Gothic Revival mansions. Designed in 1838 by Alexander Jackson Davis, its architectural brilliance is complemented by the park-like landscape of the estate and a comprehensive collection of original decorative arts. Its noteworthy occupants included: former New York City mayor William Paulding, merchant George Merritt, and railroad tycoon Jay Gould. Lyndhurst is a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

We visited the Lyndhurst on a weekend trip to attend the Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo Park. Our last visit to Lyndhurst was during Halloween last year (2016). What a difference when it's not a holiday. While we truly enjoyed the Mansion during Halloween with all...More

Just went here for a tour this week and it was gorgeous! I would actually recommend not watching the film before you go on the tour because a lot of the information is repeated, but it was still really cool. Take your time and explore...More

This is a must see place both inside and out. Concerts on the lawn during the summer are wonderful. View is spectacular.

I reside nearby and often walk the Croton Trail that crosses the grounds of Lyndhurst Castle. It is such a beautiful edifice! Recommend a visit in late Spring and particularly in the Fall.

I believe that you can. there are 2 separate fees for the property. one is a grounds admission, which gets credited towards the house tour, if you take it.
