The problem with rose gardens is that they are most beautiful at their peak, but if you go at other times you don't get the same sense of loveliness. We were there the end of June. Considering all the Volunteer parking spots, you'd think the gardens would be better maintained, but we did not feel that the garden was well-maintained. We had to park some ways away from the garden, but we can walk and a walk is always a good thing.

We made a special trip and after stopping here we sort of thought it was not even really worth going too far out of the way. I am not sure if they want to keep it natural and if I should have picked the big thistles or leave them. Lots of bugs on the flowers. About 10% of the bushes had blooms. Smaller than I would have expected.

The rose garden is well worth a liesurely stroll. I usually find myself spending half an hour to 45 minutes there. Very peaceful, good place to gather your thoughts.

Such a beautiful, wonderful place. There are virtually always roses in bloom because so many varities are planted. If you do see any Japanese beetles, pick them off and kill them (you'll feel like you participated).

this is a must-see in the summer and late spring--there are so many different varieties of roses, you can spend a couple of hours making your way around, smelling them all (they don't all smell the same!)

It was amazing, there were so many different roses in different shapes and different colors.
Our problem was to find parking. We succeeded eventually.
We stayed here for an hour. It was so lovely. In the middle of it all was a gazebo. The rose garden was quite attractive. No matter where I looked, I saw beauty. I couldn't help but to take lots and lots of pictures. It was so beautiful and well arranged.
Next time we are in Syracuse, I would like to go back here. It's a must to see!

Really pretty little garden, with lots of different rose varieties to appreciate. It's close to the university, so nice for taking photos or something if you're in town for an event. There are some benches and pathways, but it's quite tiny.
The roses are in bloom right now (June), so go see them soon!

On our way to our family reunion we stopped in Syracuse for a short break. The rose garden was listed on Trip Advisor's list of top places to visit in Syracuse. The garden is peaceful with a gazebo in the center. There are dozens of varieties of fragrant roses. The garden is maintained by volunteers and one was working during our visit. A quaint lily pond is up some stairs to the left. The garden is certainly worth a stop if you're in the area.

If you love roses then this is the place to go! Lot's of different kinds with a variety of scents. You can even get married there! There is also a pond area over to the right and up the stairs that is very beautiful.

The Rose Garden has been here for decades and I've visited it since I was a kid. They have decades old rose bushes that all have markers indicating names and dates. I recommend visiting during the summer when they are all in full bloom and you can smell roses everywhere! The older strains especially seemed to be bred for their scents which I especially love.

What is the best time of year to visit the rose garden?
Written 20 March 2016
Peak bloom happens the second and third week of June. There will be roses on bloom from late May to October unless we get early hard freezes.
