Located under the Varrazano-Narrows Bridge offers a historic masonry fort with a nice overlook. Free to visit.

If you are planning to visit Staten Island with a purpose of finding great historical artifacts, don't. It is a great place for a picture opportunity. View of VNB from here is awesome.

There are buses that run between the two. You just need to find a bus that gets you back to the ferry during at your desired time. That is probably the cheaper way to do it. But if you don't mind spending a few more... More
