Snug Harbor is one of the best attractions in Staten Island but like most other attractions in the area, it suffers from a lack of recognition by visitors (and even locals) and a somewhat inconvenient location. Getting there from Manhattan takes time, requiring at least a ferry ride and a bus transfer. The good thing is the bus stops right... More

Aside from children's, staten island, naval and other museums, I just live roaming through the property. Takes you away from reality and drown in the sea of Serenity. Highly recommend visiting Chinese garden and especially hedge maze which has intriguing history behind it that will give you goose bumps.

What better place to release a squirrel that I trapped in my attic ! The "cultural people" can provide a good home for him. They will feed him nuts on their lawn and tuck him in at night ! Thank you "cultural people ".

It is usually quiet; If you get to spend some time there, you can hardly believe you are in NY. It is haunting. There is a massive bamboo garden, koi pond, simple simple rooms and courtyards.

What a hidden treasure. The Japanese garden filled with bamboo and streams and sounds. So peaceful. Went with an adult school trip. We didn't want to leave. If you are in SI and weather is nice ....go.

There are many free artistic and musical activities for all ages at Snug Harbor. There are always art and music activities for modest fees. Drama and even sometimes comedy is not lost here for basic prices..even when there are Broadway and/or equity actors involved. If you are bored don't be hesitant to check out the Harbor might just find the... More

Snug Harbor is a cultural jewel on Staten Island. Some of the many venues are the botanical garden, the Chinese Scohlar's Garden, the Art lab, the Staten Island Museum, The John Noble Museum, the Newhouse Gallery, Veteran's Hall for theater, and beautiful grounds for relaxing and walking.

The musical hall in building J or R is absolutely gorgeous. The food was delicious , delicious , delicious !! I would recommend this establishment to newly engaged couples as well. When doing further research I found out they have a bridal suite and so many other options they offer.
