Historic Site

Interesting place to pause at along the road. Not really a destination, but historical oddity - separated "civilization" from logging community.

Amusing story about the origins of the name for Sunday Rock. In the old horse and buggy days, when people went south on NY 56 they reached Sunday Rock and in effect were entering the "outback," where clothes, language and manners were less clean.

Just a big rock with some local history/flavor. Apparently, during settlement period of this area, it was said that their was "No Sundays west of this Rock" due to the lack of civilization. A 5 min stop at most. Great place to stretch the legs at the roadside history monument.

Stop for a picinic, lunch or a break from driving to learn a little history from the logging days. Nothing spectacular, but it is a spot that is mostly overlooked by anyone who drives by it.
