About
The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery, on the Skidmore College campus, is the only art museum in Saratoga Springs. The Museum presents about a dozen exhibitions each year, featuring work by emerging and world-class artists, and interdisciplinary explorations that cross traditional lines between art, science, humanities, and performance. A collecting museum, the Tang cares for more than 17,000 objects that span time periods, materials, and subject matter, with an emphasis on contemporary art. Public programs include tours, artist talks, lectures, screenings, and performances, including the popular summer concert series Upbeat on the Roof.

I enjoyed the exhibits at the museum. I especially loved the piece that had a wall of paper Roses. I loved the simplicity and beauty of it. It sparked me into believing I can decorate my walls beautiful without the traditional pictures. The exhibit on the Mezzanine is a must see. At first I thought it was just a sitting area but then you will notice how common buckets can be made artistic plant holders. The chairs were also beautiful woven. My visit was definitely an inspiring way to spend a winter's Sunday.

Thank you for the five-star review. Be sure to come back and visit, as the Mezzanine exhibition by the artist Nicole Cherubini is in the early months of a two-year project and will change over time!

Met friends here really just to kill a few hours, but was pleasantly surprised. Just two primary exhibits -- one on each floor. Not sure if this is typical, but this was the case when we visited. The first floor exhibit of Tibetan paintings and tapestries was lovely, if a bit monotonous. Upstairs was a very eclectic and interesting exhibit entitled "Like Sugar," which explored the relationship we have with sugar and sweet things, from plantation slaves and diabetics to advertisements and birthday parties. Really interesting collection of a variety of media and artists. What made the Tang unique was that, as a teaching museum, exhibits include research and commentary by art students at Skidmore, allowing for more background about the artists and works than you might typically find. Altogether worth a visit if you're in the area.

A trip through the Tang is always a must-do when visiting our daughter at Skidmore. I have seen a wide variety of artists over the years and I've never failed to be inspired.

The Tang Teaching Museum, is one of the Capital District's top Art Museum.
This is a place that even your children will enjoy! They change their exhibits several times a year and they have a mixed subjects and media that will entertain and teach all who see them. Many of their exhibitions have opening ceremonies that are free for public to attend.
A must see Museum if you are in the Capital District. I have posted photos for your enjoyment.

Very small art museum. Saw a politically correct exhibit on why one shouldn't eat sugar.
Only two rooms total. Not worth your time.

I absolutely love the Tang Museum and make it a point to visit every time I'm in Saratoga. The only complaint I have is the uncomfortable feeling I got from the art nazi that followed us around like we were about to commit the next largest heist in history. Hopefully next time that issue will have been resolved.

The Tang Museum is a gem!! If you get the opportunity, you should make this one of your stops! It sits on the pristine lawns of Skidmore College Campus right next to a relaxing pond. It's free to the public and the exhibits are from artists all over the world. Really top notch! Worth your time and wonderful grounds. Also great hiking trails on campus if you're so inclined.

The Tang Teching Museum and Art Gallery bosts some of the most beautiful architecture and the galleries are vast. This small outer appearing museum is out together very well, from the exhibition design, the lighting to the amazing staff. Love this museum!
