My husband and I decided to go to the zoo. Right before closing- in the fall gates close at 3 but you have an hour after closing to stay in the park. There were not many people there and we were able to see some of the animals being fed! Really a great little diamond in the rough! It's one... More

Seneca Park Zoo is a 15.5-acre zoo that is home to over 90 species including mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, and fish. It is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Fredrick Law Olmsted planed Seneca Park and animals have been exhibited since 1894. There are still a few remaining vestiges of early cage-based exhibits, but the zoo, with the... More

We try to see the Seneca Park Zoo at least three times per year. Most of the exhibits are organized in a way that neatly balances the animals' comfort with exposure to the viewing public. If you can catch the snow leopards' feeding time, you'll be in for a treat. Other favorites are the otter, rhino, hyena, polar bear, tiger,... More

Stopped in one October afternoon and was really impressed with how much has changed since I was last there. The elephant habitat has been upgraded and improved and the addition of two new elephants was a pleasant surprise. It was feeding time so stood to watch them eat their hay and got to listen to a very knowledgeable docent talk... More

We were very impressed with the Seneca Park Zoo. Went with my older parents and 12 yo son while visiting our older son at RIT and we had a great day. Since the weather was cooler, most of the animals were out playing around. I was surprised to elephants, lions, tigers, etc... at such a small zoo, but they seemed... More

We took our two little ones to the zoo the Saturday before Halloween. The zoo hard their trick or treating event at the time. The zoo was packed but there was still plenty of room to walk around and you were able to see the animals with no problems. Very nice zoo, very nice improvements from when I went several... More

Years ago we opted to go to the buffalo zoo instead of Rochester because it was nicer and had more. Not anymore! Buffalo is out dated and Seneca Park Zoo is clean just big enough but not too big. Nice walking zoo even for toddlers. My husband took our 2 year old son the other day and they walked the... More

Zoos are a highlight of trips across the country for me and my family. Seneca Park is a gem set in a natural setting and park designed by Olmsted, a renowned landscape designer. For its size it has a wide range of animals, showcased in a great setting. Educational exhibits. Polar bears are a favorite..

This is a good place to take kids, or just come with some adult friends. There are lots of different kinds of animals, and the habitats allow for you to get very close. However, some animals really need a larger habitat than the ones that they are in. I would still recommend going at least once.
