Highland park is an important piece of Rochester life. The highland bowl has concerts, and the park hosts the famous lilac festival every year. There are nice hiking trails, both paved and unpaved. The conservatory is very pretty. Worth a trip, especially during the lilac festival.

This park is so well kept with flowers, trees, the conservatory. If you get a chance to go during the Lilac Festival in May, do it! The lilacs are gorgeous.

Highland Park is know for it's lilacs and May is the month for them. The Lilac Festival brings hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world to see the lilacs in full bloom. Unfortunately, they are not in bloom all summer long but you can enjoy a beautiful park with many walking trails, flowers, a reservoir, a conservatory... More

Highland Park has beautiful mature trees, seasonal flower bed and paved paths that wind through out the park. There is on street parking along the reservoir road and you can access the walking paths at this point. The Lamberton Conservatory is located here. Also a children's playground. Note: the paths from the reservoir can be hilly. If you park on... More

Of course they have the giant lilac festival, but they have so much more. The arboretum has many mature specimens of unusual trees. They have a grove of paperbark maples that are probably a hundred years old, and bigger than I've seen anywhere. Also many different magnolias, a pinetum with giant established conifers, a japanese maple section, hydrangeas, weigelas, lots... More

Great place to stroll, picnic, smell the flowers, and leave the noise of the city behind for a little while. The Annual Lilac Festival draws THOUSANDS so mid-May may not be the best time to truly experience the park. It's lovely in winter too, especially when fresh snow coats the lilac trees.

This lovely park is a nice spot to visit year round. The lilac festival in May draws thousands, but I recommend a visit either before or after (unless you LOVE kettle corn and crowds)). T he Lamburton Conservatory is worth a visit, especially in the winter. I also enjoy strolling through the Poet's Garden, which was planted in 1920 by... More

We were visiting the Rochester area over the weekend. Did a search on TripAdvisor for things to do. Ran across the entry for the Highland Park and Werner Castle. Unfortunately the castle hours are for midweek and not for weekends. The garden was a disappointment, not well kept and infact rather run down. Was saddened to see that.
