- LG659380114 contributionsGreat season see you in 2024!Fright Fest was awesome once again. The park was well decorated and setup for the event. Rides were all up and running as far as we could tell other than water park and water rides. Crowd wasn't too much until the evening when it picks up but parking was easy and lines weren't an issue. Diamond passes were the best purchases we made as much is included. Well done season Great Escape! Looking forward to 2024.We appreciate the review. Thanks for taking the time. - LG659380114 contributionsLove this parkBack for 2024! We purchased 2024 Diamond Passes w/ a season meal plan a while ago so everything is pretty much prepaid which seems to save a lot of $ if you go 3-5x a year like we do. Park was clean and well managed as usual. The new Bobcat coaster adds some excitement to the year as well. Always enjoy visiting this park and will be back a few times more!Hi Lg6593801, thank you so much for the review. - Morgs623Troy, New York49 contributionsA day of funThe Great Escape used to be the place to go back in the 80's and 90's. Ever since Six Flags bought it, it has gone downhill and is overpriced. To make it worth it, I would suggest buying a season pass. With the season pass you also get free parking and discounts on food. You can bring your own clear water bottles into the park which helps with costs as well! Many people I know also bring in their own snacks as security makes no efforts to check backpacks. Buy the season pass, eat lunch before you go to the park and bring your own water. If you do this, you will enjoy your time much more.Hi, we appreciate your feedback and would like to hear more from you regarding your experience. We have been going here since I was a child. I never noticed until recently how racist this park is. My wife of over 20 years has not gone to this park once without being harassed and treated like dirt by management and park personnel. Today for instance she brought a see through backpack with her and the 2 kids so the park would have an easy time of it and be able to see anything she would have in it. They let her in with thanks yesterday but today they decided to harass her about it. They stated the bag was a couple inches to tall. So now they force her to return to her vehicle and leave all her and the children’s belongings behind. Grow up six flags, we are a nation of races and don't need your prejudices. Is this the kind of racist behavior we can expect our children to receive as they grow up and wish to visit your park?!?!?!
My wife walked back to the hotel and left the see through backpack and put everything in a much larger shopping bag. They had no problem with this. They just waved her through. We also noticed some women carrying pocket books larger than her backpack. Management needs to stop with the, “look at me, I’m the boss”, grow up and be professional. Also use your head, if everyone used clear see through bags how much safer could you get!

What a RIP . . 30 bucks for parking, $70 for a ticket at the gate and once you get in you'll wait in line 40 minutes for a one minute ride with longer waits for the better rides . . Lucky if you get 4 rides in all day . . . When you get in, it's a Dump with Flaking paint and rusty nuts and bolts wherever you look . . don't get thirsty or hungry . . $13 for a cup of domestic beer . . . . Operators and Security 'Rent a Cops' act like they're State Troopers . . . Took the family there 20 years ago and it was nowhere near as bad . . . Never again will I waste a day and a couple hundred dollars there.

My family and I had a perfectly fun time. We utilized the “Buy 2, Get One Free” ticket deal available on the website so it felt like a good deal. All of the rides that weren’t running were listed on the website. The park was clean and the rides ran efficiently. We went on a Thursday and it was not busy. We did not eat much but our pretzels were served quickly and were tasty. As long as you don’t have Disney-like expectations, this park is a fun day activity.

My family recently visited and to spite the 94 degree temp had a good time. The lines were not long and the rides were very good and kept very clean. A couple of the rides were closed I believe to lack of staffing but all in all we had a great time and I would say it offers a good value for a day of fun for a family.

Was planning on attending for two days but called it quits after a day. Park itself is alright; however, crowded and some rides appeared to be shut down. Most importantly, purchased x2 meal plans and they only had one restaurant "accepting" meal plans the day that we attended; however, unfortunately they refused to accept the meal plans so we ended up having to pay out of pocket. Six Flags staff would not correct the issue with our meal plans and we ended up wasting a couple hours being transferred around trying to correct the issue while Six Flags staff placed blame on themselves.

This place is a dump. It is dirty and expensive. There were less than 20 tubes on the lazy river, only one working drinking fountain throughout the entire park, the food booths were out of several things. After waiting in line for 45 minutes we were told they were out of bread at the Philly steak booth. Many upset customers. Very unclear rules and improper posting of rules. The customer service was awful. When asking staff questions about the park they did not know anything about the park. For spending $250 for a family of 5 to enjoy on a holiday weekend- was a huge let down!!

I've been going to The Great Escape my whole life. Even though I know prices on everything has gone up I think the food and drinks are ridiculously priced! Granted, the slices were big, but 2 slices with 2 garlic knots was $32.00! One whole pizza (5 slices) was $58.00. A bottle of water was $5.00 and one cup of soda was $8.00! It did help that we got the refillable drink bottles at a lower cost when we purchased online. The refillable cups were ok but were flimsy and much smaller. I don't know how people can afford to go there and feed their families and keep them hydrated! Everyone knows that a case of water only costs $5.00 so they are increasing the price by over 400%. All it is doing is making it so families can't return. The park was a little busy but nothing like it usually is. The other negative experience we had was that the concrete and walkways in the pool area were extremely hot and sharp! You should consider wearing water shoes in Hurricane Harbor. We had a good time, and the kids had a blast though. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful.

Been a member of six flags since 2018. On our most recent visit wearing eye glasses on rides all of a sudden became an issue. Many parks through out the country will warn you of the risk of losing them on the ride but do not require them to be removed prior to riding. They do say you can wear them with a lanyard but still, never had this issue and I’m beyond frustrated that it has become such a problem. I purposely buy sport style glasses that grip well due to the fact that I race motocross, mountain bike, kayak, and many other fast paced activities. If I’m comfortable with them and accept the risk of losing them, then it should not be an issue. They tried throwing the “safety issue” speel into my face but I’m not buying that at all. I also rode screaming demon, comet, and the log flume without being asked to remove them, and had zero issue. It’s just a ridiculous situation and creates conflict that could otherwise be avoided, and the day could be enjoyed. Even Disney and universal studios don’t play this game and I would consider them the industry standard. 🤷♂️

They are not upfront about how at least half the rides are not functioning right now bc of staff shortages. Much of the staff was cranky, probably from being overworked in the heat. Cafeteria was a nightmare of dirt, noise and germs. No social distancing.

This park has taken a real turn in the wrong direction so sad to see. Everything was grungy and run down, only about 30% running rides and about 25% of previous food options. Food was DISGUSTING old, cold had been sitting in warming pans for extended period of time…

How many days would you recommend to visit the park and exterior waterpark; is 1 day enough?
Written 25 May 2023
The water park here is not exterior it is included in the price of admission. If you have small children i recommend 2 days. Little feet dont move so fast. If you go with only adults then go early and 1 day is sufficient.
Written 23 July 2023
Does admission to the Great Escape park include Hurricane Harbor waterpark rides, or is that separate? We are six flags pass holders (from another park) and we are wondering if we can access both the regular rides and exterior waterpark rides.
Written 25 May 2023
How is this park for kids under 5?
Written 12 April 2022
I think this park should be converted to a park for only small children. Its a smaller park. It is a very nice park for children. Not so many bigger rides for the big kids.
Written 23 July 2023
We are looking to go to the main theme park in July for one day only but online tickets are not on sale yet. Does anyone know what the typical daily rate is if you buy online in advance ? The six flags website suggests the gate price is $66 plus tax but it does say we can save money by buying online. Thanks for any help !

My 2016, 2018 and 2019 Six Flags Season Passes each cost around $65. This park is the lowest rated in the area compared to other Six Flags parks. I'd recommend trying to get to at least a couple of parks and buy a season pass. This park alone isn't worth the cost of one day passes and parking alone is $20-25 per park but almost always free with a season pass.
Our home park is SF Great Adventure, but last year we also visited SF America, SF Darien Lake, SF Great Escape and SF New England. A great value for $65. I can also recommend the food and drink passes. We did have a good time at Great Escape, though we went late Summer on a Sunday and we mostly wanted the coaster credits.

Why are the rules not enforced equally? Whites cannot bring in even a lttle bag of candy yet muslims bring in wagons full of food nothing said. The muslims and blacks smoke wherever they want and nothing said yet they are right on top of white smokers which is good but the rules should be enforced equally. i cant cover my face but they allow the muslims to why? rules are suppose to be enforced equally. People you need to complain and force the park to enforce the rules on every one or ignore them for every one. I was there sun june 9th in line waiting to get in a couple muslim women and a muslim man went to the front of the line the security officer told them they have to go to the back of the line The guy went and got the security supervisor who promptly ushered them through without even going through the metal detector. THE WAY IT IS LOOKING WHITES OUR NOT WELCOME WHY?
Written 10 June 2019
Dont hold your breath. I was racially profiled at the place for being white. on a ride i told by a worker i had to remove my hat and he had to take it. No one else had to take off there hat. i called him out and asked if only the whiteboys had to take off there hats? he said every one does, i pointed out how the person across from me had a hat a few spots behind me there where people with hats on. he said he took all hats I yelled he was racially profiling me.. after ride i went to other side of ride and filmed him not taking hats from anybody, i did not see any older whiteboys with hats get on to see if they got same treatment. The parks answer was some skip the line pass and promise to enforce rules for every one, I mentioned it would be a different story if i was black or muslim but they just left not caring. So if your white find somewhere nicer, not much there to put up with not being wanted because of being a white American male.

Is there changing rooms for the water park? Is it best to just wear bathing suits there?
Written 25 April 2019
Yes, there are changing rooms in the water park with lockers that you can rent for the day. There are also full bathrooms and showers if you need.
