The history of this town is just amazing not to be out done by the amazing curator who is great with adults and kids alike. Not being a history buff she certainly educated me on a vast many things I never knew about the town. On another note... it's not just a great place to visit in the day. The... More

It is obvious that the people of Palmyra care a great deal about their town and it's history. Erie Canal, printing, private citizens, fire department, police officers, urban renewal, 19th century, military, dolls, fire, voting, religion...just a few of the topics covered. We spent several hours exploring with our guide.

The Museum actually encompasses five separate buildings that we purchased and restored by the Palmyra Historical Society. For a nominal admission price ($6 adult, $4 teenager) we were treated to tons of local history - some that bordered on trivial but some quite significant. The guided tour was terrific - our host was sweet and charming and very proud of... More

This is an incredible collection of history from the area. The volunteers work tirelessly to keep the collection in good shape. Especially interesting is the Phelps store which is like time capsule and the shopkeeper's apartment above the store. If you are in Palmyra, don't miss this.

There are so many artifacts & items here. There's also a general store and a print shop preserved as well as the museum. You must also visit the Alling Quilt Museum which shows not only the history but fine examples on a rotating basis. I believe it's the largest collection in the US.

The women at the museum were most friendly, helpful and full of information. We made the mistake of starting our tour too late in the day so we did not get to see all of the buildings usually shown on the tour. The main museum did have a map of the famous graves in the cemetery that was of great... More

The museum itself appears to be a conglomeration of many items. The most interesting of all to me were the buildings themselves and their history. I had a lengthy chat with the guides there who were a wealth of information about the history of Palmyra and the surrounding area.
