We had booked a private tour and this archaeological dig was on the tour. It was truly amazing and huge. I never thought something like this would be on the island. I could have spent hours looking at everything. We did not get a chance...More

Not a large museum but they definitely have some interesting artifacts on view. It's in the middle of Fira and easy to miss if you are walking around.

Many writers have gone wrong with the name. For example, Lewisia write here, but she means the large Museum of Prehistoric Thera.

This is a small museum that is in need of an update. Just a few artifacts. The museum contains more of the archaeologist's journals and photos. The description of the items are in Greek, not English. A disappointment.

This is a wonderful museum full of finds and wall paintings from Akrotiri. It is small but the displays are very well presented. The wall paintings are absolutely beautiful. This is a must see museum for anyone interested in ancient civilisations. It is a pity...More

The museum, although small, was interesting. However it consisted of one (small) room only, and descriptions are only available in Greek and French. The more worrying aspect, however, was the member of staff who was leering at us for basically the entire duration, causing much...More

I’m glad we gave the Museum our donation so they can continue to display these few artifacts for the errant Archeology Professor or Tourist that cares. I hope that Mr. forgives me for dragging us to this feebly curated “Museum”. I should have known from...More

I hate to stick it to any art establishment, but this museum was so disappointing. For 4 Euros, you get to see a few vitrines of an archaeologist's mise en place, and a few relics, in a single 30' x 30' ante-room. Having just come...More

The museum was one room with a dozen or so displays. No information in English only French and Greek. €2 entrance fee which may seem like value but €2 will also buy you a can of soda and a chocolate bar which I assure you...More

The Archaeological Museum in Thira is located in "downtown" Santorini/Thira - not in Akrotiri or prehistoric Thira.
