Totally amazing restoration across the multiple ages of the chateaux. The ground levels are from the middle ages, the upper floors from the early 20th century. 12th century floor tiles, medieval wall paintings, stories on the placards, archive exposition, etc. Amazing views across the fields to the Burgundy canal and locks to the hills. At 5 Euro a bargain to visit.

Located on a rocky promontory, this fortified castle transformed over the centuries has already undergone and continues to be the subject of careful renovation. The buildings present a great architectural variety and the interiors are good examples of tastes from the 15th to the 18th century.

This château can be seen from miles away and looks very large. The château itself is not huge, but part of a beautiful medieval village. I still believe it is worth a visit. Entry was 5 euro and parking was free as you drive up the road.

Like many Dijonnais, I often visited this superb castle, located on a promontory, overlooking the Burgundy Canal. A medieval fortress. Closed for a long time because of works, I wanted to see the result of them. Always great to visit. Guided or free tour. An honest price: 6 or 8 euros. One room to see in particular: explanations of the work (a film was made showing the evolution of the work and the involvement of local craftsmen and businesses). But some regrets: the renovated tower denotes by its whiteness on the other buildings. The tomb of Philippe Pot was moved from the chapel to a room to be highlighted by a sound and light scenography: in my review, not very successful. The weeping that carries the grave is almost invisible!

The perched village where the castle is located is very pretty but the castle has seen better times. Half under renovation, some rooms renovated with dubious taste and some original ones that can be visited but with, to be generous, very sparse furnishings. Honestly, France offers much better in the castles and similar sector.

from the highway the castle is magnificent but disappointing it was under construction!
the visit despite the work and the scaffolding cost 5 euros, certainly a modest sum but it's boring for the photos! On the other hand, the village is very pretty, restaurants at very reasonable prices, worth seeing.

I have always seen this castle lurking off to the side of the road on our drive down into the heart of Burgundy Country from Paris and this year I finally decided to make a day trip of visiting. We came in the off season so most everything was closed except for the castle itself but the town was extremely charming and beautiful and the castle was an excellent visit. A great half day for folks who love exploring history and beauty.

We have not been able to visit the castle, our choice is to visit France by motorhome and the sign forbidden ccars is only at the top of the village from where galleys to move there, and the parking at the bottom of the castle is only for cars. Well not nice a havitante told us that they were tired of tourists. We left unhappy.

Good for a short day trip. Awesome village. The inhabitants really care for the look. Lots of roses and other plants in front of the houses.
The medieval castle is in good shape and the prices for the tour(s) are appropriate.
No dogs allowed in the castle.
View is stunning. Several tours to walk from the parking lot, sign is installed right there.
Don't forget to visit the church: L’Eglise Saint-Philippe et Saint-Jacques

Magnificent medieval village. Strolling through the streets, observing the different houses and their explanations is a real pleasure.
You should of course visit the castle preferably with a guide to better understand its history (ours was great!).

We will be traveling to chateauneuf-en-auxois from Reims. Catch a train from Reims to Dijon then Dijon to which city? I can't seem to find bus or train info to this area. Thanks.

We visited Chateauneuf-en-Auxois this past summer but had a rental car. The area is very rural. Have you checked with the tourist bureau in Dijon or Beune to see if they can give you some info? Visiting this town was truly the highlight of our trip to Burgundy. I hope you are able to get there.
