This is a nice beach and Sal is a lovely island but a lot of work still needs to be invested in educating the locals and tourists on various environmental issues i.e. I witnessed children throwing plastic in the sea, tourists wasting water etc. Sadly...More
Second visit albeit 9 years inbetween visits. Not spoiled as feared following our earlier visit. A truly relaxing holiday to re-cahrge batteries.
Although Santa Maria is the main tourist town of the Island, the beaches are not that crowded. You can go for nice walks along the beach and there are several coffee shops where you can sit down.
