Since the XIth century, when the name of the lords of Rambures appears for the first time, their fortress is watching the hearth of the Vimeu, close to the border of Norman. During one thousand years, three castles were built under the order of the same family. The construction of the present castle began between the ending of the XIVth and the beginning of the XVth century, in the background of the one hundred years war. Today, it represents a rare example of the military architecture from the XVth. Indeed, even after six hundred years, it keeps his original appearance. We suppose that it was David of Rambures, a Shakespearian hero, “Great Master of the crossbows” in the French army, who constructed the castle.

We drove to this Chateau on our way down to Disney after finding it on a google search as a means of breaking up our journey. I have to say we all loved it, the staff were all very friendly and the tour guide was great from start to finish. The tour gives you plenty of information on the history... More

When you like castles and you are in the area, do not miss out Chateau Fort de Rambures. They do the tour in French and English, but of course the French tour is a bit more elaborate. But also in English you get quite a lot of information. The guides are passionate about their castle and this is nice to... More

Impressive history and architecture. The castle is very well preserved and the guided tour(french/english) was great. A big park with lots of games for all ages. All signs are written in french only, but with a smartphone and a QR code reader it is possible to get some help from the attached QR code. It is possible to spend a... More

Visited on a dreary morning arrived in time for the first guided tour at 10.15. If there are French visitors on the tour the guide delivers the tour information in French, an English fact sheet is made available with the guide then adding key points in English. In reality she didn't leave anything out. It's worth making the effort to... More

We got here just before closing time so had no time to explore the gardens, but the castle is very sweet - homely and cosy. Unfortunately you can only go in with a guide, and it was all in French! But we picked up the gist of it and enjoyed looking round.

Admittedly we arrived about 15 minutes before the lunch period closure but were still charged 6 euros to walk round the grounds as the castle was shut. The lady who sold us the ticket did say that they would leave the gate unlocked if we would lock it on our way out. Although it wasn't rose growing time it was... More

We loved this hidden gem in the Picardie countryside. You drive down some memorably tiny roads to reach it but that 1st view is breathtaking! We didn't do the guided tour of the castle although this was only 2 euro more than the garden wandering, this was due solely to poor timing on our part as the next tour was... More

Interesting little Chateau which the English never took over ! Worth a visit, the interior can only be viewed on a guided tour. We took the "English" tour which was 3/4 in French. It would have ben very helpful if the tour had been printed in English so we could have followed all of it as not all was translated... More

Everything as you'd hope & expect it to be and very well done. Delightful. Some parts (the display models, toilets etc) could do with being repaired and maintained better (the toy soldiers seemed to have opened fire on each other when no one was looking) and one longs for properly sited multilingual info panels as ubiquitous in the UK these... Visited the Chateau Rambures whilst holidaying in the Somme area with our grandsons. Beautiful setting, the guided tour was very interesting and the young lady doing the tour spoke excellent English during the tour. This Castle is well worth a visit if in the area, the gardens are also lovely though we were about 3 weeks too soon to see... More
