Camp hero is now a New York State Park, with lots of easy hiking and biking trails. Small hills and roadways take you just south and west of Montauk lighthouse. Lots of history look for the radar towers and the military bunkers left over from...More

Parking fee will also cover the Montauk Lighthouse parking lot. There is a picnic area and hiking - but we prefer to walk to the cliffs overlooking the ocean and lighthouse to take pictures!

Be prepared, is it a deserted military base. Lots of boarded up buildings. We went looking for a Letterbox. Google it to find out more but basically it is a box that is hidden and contains a stamp etc etc. The kids like it. Not...More

I visited here with a friend July 2014. This is a historic site not only because of the WW2 activities but also served as an Air force radar station starting in 1948 protecting New York City. It is spread out a bit so walking and...More

Very interesting military camp. Hiked some trails, beautiful overlook of the ocean. Informative. Huge radar. This camp was used years ago.

This park is not well maintained and the scenery can't compare to Walking Dunes or Hither Hills. The only really interesting feature is the old Air Force radar tower.

This park is the stepchild of the Montauk Lighthouse but much nicer beautiful views and nice trails. Has the best view of the light house and a great place for a wedding which we saw when we were there.

This is one of my families favorite places to hike. Many trails along the Atlantic coast. Bring a picnic and enjoy the peaceful parklands. Views are amazing once you make it to the beach. You can hike all the way to the Montauk lighthouse.

the park was closed, and we could not access it. We saw no explanation why this was the case. We could only guess, maybe damage from storms, maybe hunting. Why should hunters be so privileged that no one else can access the area safely? Also,...More
