This is one of my families favorite places to hike. Many trails along the Atlantic coast. Bring a picnic and enjoy the peaceful parklands. Views are amazing once you make it to the beach. You can hike all the way to the Montauk lighthouse.

the park was closed, and we could not access it. We saw no explanation why this was the case. We could only guess, maybe damage from storms, maybe hunting. Why should hunters be so privileged that no one else can access the area safely? Also, who monitors the hunters for compliance with regulations?

Really Beautiful. Great place to watch sunrise. Didn't sightsee all of it but what I did was awesome. Next visit will explore more.

Turning Camp Hero into a park was a great idea. I didn't get to see much of it, but I liked the fact that there was very limited car access and a nice, wild feeling about it. The advice to stay 25 feet from the edge of the cliff looked a little over-cautious.

there was a hornets nest in the middle of one of the hinking paths, and the path was only closed from one side (we entered from the other one and got stung). otherwise nice hiking paths and picnic areas and interesting historic military buildings

Do yourself a favor and read upon the history of this place. It will make your visit that much more interesting. There are soooo many stories...some true, some maybe not...but all are interesting.

Amazing views. Do yourself the favor and go. Don't stand too close to the edge though, those bluffs are eroding. We hiked down the dirt road to the bottom of the bluffs onto the beach, which was another awesome view looking up at the bluffs and watching the surfers from the beach. We also rode our bikes all around the... More

First of all, the hiking along the bluffs is gorgeous! The trails are really narrow and wooded, and makes you feel like you are truly in the middle of mother nature! Almost constant view of the ocean too, which adds to the beauty. At the beginning of the trails, you can go down to the ocean onto a rocky beach... More
