This is a great hike to attempt in a 2-4 hour window. Our whole group (parents and teens) enjoyed it. It is challenging (climbing across rocks, with some steep sections), fairly short, with good views from the top. Both the short (1 mile) and long...More

Took a Bachelor party up this mountain. Forecast called for 60% chance of rain and we lucked out that there was no rain. This is a fairly easy hike. We went up the short (harder) path and down the long (easier) route. Mud wasn't too...More

This is a little must do right out the front door of the Adirondak Loj. Short and steep, this rocky little hike to the top offers very pretty views and is great for the whole family. I went up the short path and came down...More

Great views of the high peaks and Heart Lake. A short hike that makes a great tune up for the more challenging high peaks.

We knew a cold front was coming through, and wanted to climb before it rained as the rocks would be slick. For a couple in our 60's, we also didn't want to miscue even though we are fairly fit. We took the shorter but steeper...More

After 30 years of living in Florida, our idea of a hill is an overpass. Mt Jo became our first "Hiking" experience and we loved it. It is not for beginners, but at 50 and having a knee replacement 5 months old, and my wife...More

I would give this one 5 stars if you didn't have to pay to hike. The hike itself is a great introduction for hiking bigger peaks in the Adirondacks. The trail resembles that of a lot of the trails through these northern woods. Some even...More

We went as a couple with our new dog and she had a blast. It did take us about the whole day but was totally worth it! We went in April and there were no mosquitoes or bugs it was actually warm.

I would say there's a few different routes if you want to spend all day there or even a few hours. We did the shortest trek and I'd say it about 4 miles and it took us all day because of the incline. If you're an... More

Lake Placid has a free trolley service that runs through the main parts of town. I don't think it runs out to Mt. Jo, which is about a 10-15 minute drive from Main Street. There may be special drop offs requested but you... More
