You will learn a great deal about John Jay and his contributions to the founding of our country. Of all the founding fathers, Jay held more positions in the new government than any other. It is an impressive piece of property as well.

John Jay Homestead hosts the best farmers market in the area Sat. mornings. Often there will be a food truck so we sometimes grab lunch and eat at a picnic table. There's also a history camp during the summer, a family-friendly Barn Dance in the...More

Brief visit before it officially opened but, with the stop en route from Bedford to Ridgefield. Enjoyed the herb garden and walk around the property. Also learned about the bugs there and how bees make honey. The barn would be great if we had young...More

Great to visit this home of the Jay family and learn about the early farming history of the area. There is a guided tour, the docents are very knowledgeable, and the house and grounds are beautiful.

Step into history. This was his retreat, not his main living quarters. Maintained in good condition. Fields to roam, gardens to explore. Come on one of the special festival days.

We attended the July 4th celebration. Excellent family entertainment. The house tour was structured nicely, tour yourself with docents in each room for questions. The gardens are very pleasant and an unusual attraction is the headstone of a civil war horse. I am a history...More

I have visited the gardens many times, which are lovely. Attended an art show in the out buildings which was nice. Have never been in the main building. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area. Not really a travel to destination.

One of the most historic homes in the US. Jay was the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. If you are a careful map reader you also get to see the home of Martha Stewart, just feet away, for a double thrill!!
