I'm not sure what reason you would visit Jamestown except to go to the Lucy and Desi Museum and the National Comedy Center. Are they worth the trip? ABSOLUTELY. This museum is for any fan of Lucy and/or Desi that highlights their lives, shows clips from Lucy's movies, memorabilia, clips of episodes of I Love Lucy, a recreation of the set (apartment), and more. There is a large gift shop. You can get a reduced combined admission to the museum and the National Comedy Center, which is within walking distance.

We planned our visit to Jamestown to visit both the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz and the Comedy museum. The last time we were at the old Lucy museum was about 20 years ago, so this was the first time at this location.
Lucille Ball is my favorite actress/comedian of all times and the exhibits, costumes, props and other memorabilia were fantastic. We enjoyed the several videos especially the home videos. I took so many great pictures that we will have to keep of our memory of this legend, and the final exhibit of the vitametavegamin was priceless. Make sure to sign the giant book before you exit to the gift shop.
We also visited her burial site and drove by her childhood and house that she lived in at birth.
We Love Lucy.

Having grown up watching I Love Lucy, this was extra special to me. There was lots of pictures of Lucy and Desi. Each picture was captioned with information about Lucy, Desi or the couple. There was not too much reading to be overwhelming or boring. Just enough for us to learn about this legendary couple. They had some family member telling stores about Lucy and Desi. There were lots of Lucille's costumes, show props and three show sets. It really was very interesting. There is 2 hour free on street parking on 3rd Street where the museum is. You will have plenty of time to see the whole museum during that time.

What a fantastic museum! There is parking nearby and several stores around it in the heart of downtown. The prices are reasonable, especially if coupled with the National Comedy Center. Seeing many of the props, outfits, and replica sets from the show was enough to satisfy me. But there was also a nice little film playing that I watched good portion of in each wing of the museum.

The museum was awesome. So many things to see and a lot to read and learn about Lucy’s childhood and then her teenage years on into her marriage to Desi and then beyond her marriage to Desi. It takes about 3 hours to do the whole museum and read all of the information and view all of the items on display. I would also it is worth the money to get your picture taken on the set of the I love Lucy show. You get lots of pictures taken with your phone from one of the employees at the museum. You get the living room, and Kitchen. What a blast my daughter and I had.
I give this museum and all the of employees and A plus. Would defiantly go again.

This is a well-presented and thorough presentation about professional life of two great entertainers. The professional career of Lucille Ball dominates the display but Desi Arnaz is not forgotten. Many of Lucy's costumes are on display and supporting snippets of the routines they were in are included.
It is not a large museum but fulfills its task well.

Great history about Lucy and her family, and Ricky. Lucy is very popular in this area. What a smart woman. Beauty, talent, humor, she had it all. I am glad younger people can be exposed to what we used to watch every night.

a must for all Lucy fans, of course didn't cover the early Lucy career which was a bit shady, only the Lucy we all remember which is fine. The Desi stuff was so interesting, they could have a biography on his life alone if it hasn't been done already in addition to Lucy's. Too bad they only have "replicas" of the tv set, wonder what happened to the real stuff, all in all, very interesting. the seating for the videos shown could definetely be upgraded, one area just had a few movable chairs.

I’ve been wanting to visit the Lucy museum for awhile and I finally made it. It was a great place. They have excellent displays about Lucy and Desi. It took me about 2 hours to see both galleries. There is also a very nice gift shop with a ton of Lucy merchandise. I’d recommend buying a combo ticket with the national comedy center too

I visited this museum for the second time and still found new things! A change from my last visit was that now you are able to pay $10 to go on the New York apartment set. Very cool feature-just wished that we were told this at check in and/or they should just give you an option to include it with your admission. Many neat artifacts, including costumes. Definitely worth going to for Lucy and Desi fans!

Jamestown is a very walkable city, I stayed at the Doubletree downtown which is in walking distance of both the Lucy Desi Museum and the Comedy Center. There are several restaurants, cafe's and coffee shops located in the downtown area. I enjoyed the Allen Street Diner which is a little more than half a mile away from the Hotel. Like the previous reviewer I also enjoyed the Hot Spot Cafe. Plus the Double Tree has an onsite restaurant.

how long does it take to go through both the museums
Written 13 February 2024
It depends on your interests. Could take an hour or two at each museum, or you can spend more time if some displays interest you. At the comedy center museum there are interactive things to do, and audio/visual recordings of old tv shows.

Hello.
So sorry for this late response..I just saw this post.
For us, the museum visit only took 45 minutes. If you are a real Lucy fan you will know most of what is in the museum. It was nice to see some of her and Desi's famous outfits, and the sets from the show, but it was a quick visit. The National Comedy Center nearby was so much more interesting and we were there for a couple of hours. But all Lucy fans should try to get to the Museum...just for the experience.

There is parallel parking on the streets nearby and it is fairly easy to find a spot. If you are going to the National Comedy Center as well and walking is not an issue, there is ample parking there and it is 3 blocks away.

How much is the member price and what does it include. And is there shop and cafe in the museum
Written 7 June 2018
I don't know what the membership price is but, the regular admission price is or was about $16 per person. Yes, their is a gift shop at the museum and there are restaurants near by.

As a former truck driver, I would ask them if they had a loading dock where you could parallel park for a few hours. Surely they can't get deliveries all of the time. If not, there must be some commercial space on 1st St where you can park that behemoth, and then walk a few blocks to the museum. Try Googling parking spots using the address of the museum as a starting point.

Does it cost more for the museum next door everyone kept talking about in these reviews?
