We have visited many of the world's great museums, situated in huge cities, and this museum pales in comparison to the Louvre, the Hermitage, the Prado, etc. Taken on its own terms, though, it's a very nice collection and well worth your time if you're around the Cornell campus and you enjoy art.

The exhibition was very nice and the museum has the best views of Ithaca and the campus - must see if you are visiting Cornell!

Even before you get to the artwork, let me say that it's worth a visit just to go to the top floor for the view of the Ithaca valley and Cayuga Lake. That being said, the art is also very good. My friend - who works in the Asian art division of the Smithsonian - was enthralled, and we were... More

It happened to be a Japan America exhibition day. I saw rare Edo era Ukiyoe by Utagawa Hiroshige. Good selections. You have to see this nice view from the window. If you like Met museum, you will love it.

This is a terrific museum, a work of art in itself, but I am going to start out with a warning. Have a plan for parking beforehand or be ready and able to walk a long way on the day you visit. That being said, it is a very decent museum overall and if you don't have an appreciation for... More

If you are interested in art and like to go to the best museums wherever you travel, this is definitely deserving of a couple hours (or more, depending on your interest in the special exhibits they have at the time). It also offers spectacular, panoramic views over Ithaca from the top floors. And it's free. (At least when I was... More

Even Ithaca residents make regular visits to the Johnson, and they always bring guests. The views from the sixth floor are just spectacular, as is the Asian collection on that floor. But every floor is worth visiting

As an educator I was thrilled to be on the campus of Cornell University. I knew I was among the best and the brightest. A visit to the Johnson Museum of art was a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon in Ithaca. It was fascinating to see the large collections of Asian art in this facility. The views from... More

I loved this little museum on the Cornell campus. Many unique and wonderful features. First off, it's FREE, which is always a big plus for me. Second, you should go right to the 5th floor and see the view, which is beautiful. Next you should go to the outdoor sculpture garden and sit on the wide, deep bench and look... More
