One of the Finger Lakes

The drive along the lake was beautiful. Unfortunately there really are not any spots to pull over to take photos! I was on the road during the week and felt like I was the only one and didn't worry about pulling off to the side, hopping out, and taking a shot!

Not only is the lake gorgeous, but the surrounding countryside is magnificent. Endless miles of mountains and farmlands.

Drive the lake!

We leisurely drove around a huge portion of the lake stopping at wineries, water access points & enjoying the views when able. A lot of tres in this area so compared to Seneca Lake we felt like the lake view was often more obstructed.

I was surprised to see that the lake does't freeze in the winter. And you don't have to deal with seaweed in the summer because of the depth. Good boating lake..

Gorgeous Lake
Jul 2021 • Family
We spent three wonderful days in the Ithaca and surrounding area. Cayuga Lake served as a beautiful backdrop throughout all our touring. Many years ago, I spent many hours rowing on the lake. It was always a great feeling to be out there. It really is a gorgeous lake.

Cayuga Lake - Almost Ties for Largest of the Finger Lakes with Seneca Lake
Aug 2021
Each of the Finger Lakes all have their charms. We enjoyed exploring the East Side of Cayuga Lake this time. A lot of fun small towns, each with their own charm. Great wineries to be found and enjoyed. Small local eateries and just places to hike and enjoy the view. Visit, explore and enjoy.

WOW!

You can check out the falls from up above, or hike to (almost) the base of it. It's another breathtaking sight in this region!

Great then not so great

Cayuga Lake is a beautiful lake. The length of the lake offers many varied experiences including very good wineries.
We had a sailboat at the Treman Marina for about 20 years and with another family were able to enjoy the lake tremendously.
A few years ago we got back into sailing and found the lake quality had some issues that make it difficult to fully enjoy the lake.
Getting out of the inlet was a challenge due to the Hydrilla which clogged the motor intake and required removing the weeds frequently. Swimming became an issue with the HABS . Some who had gone into the water at the wrong place developed a skin rash.
To bad. We enjoyed the Ithaca environment and spent many nights aboard after partaking of restaurants and shows.
Due to frustration we sold the boat last year.

Beautiful big lake

The lake is huge. Boat tours leave from Ithaca. Also kayaks and paddleboards are available for rent - the water is perfectly calm, lots of kayaks and paddleboards on the water.
Lovely walking trails in Ithaca along the water.
