We travelled in June and the weather was lovely for walking. Although we didn’t climb, the scenery is magical and amazing and we saw some lovely ancient rock art. Quite a place.

The tallest mountain in Namibia. Only visited. It's a tough climb & time consuming. Spectacular Views in Damara Land & surroundings

Our guide to the rock paintings was excellent. The hike took about 45 minutes each way. It was very hot so take enough water. The paintings were excellent and in a good state considering they are between 2000 and 5000 years old

The start of the hike is found at the end of the D2359 where there is a parking lot with an attendant. According to our guide Patricia there are more than 1000 rock painting sites in the mountains, many of which require scrambling up to higher elevations. To see the White Lady, however requires only a relatively flat walk through a dry river bed, 2 hours round trip. Although there is a bit of rock hopping the way is not difficult for those used to walking on rocks. If you only walk on level pavement then the trail may be challenging.
The site is hidden in the boulders and is comprised of two levels, at the first level is information about rock painting and the history of the While Lady. Just above off a short rock walk way is the rock wall with the paintings protected by a rock overhang. The detail in the animals and figures is impressive and the images are easy to see. You are allowed within about 6-8 feet of the paintings. The While Lady really a shaman with white legs and a brown torso is one of the more faded figures.
Whether this site is worth it to you or not depends if you are interested in rock art, if you like hiking and if you have good weather.
Entrance to the site was $N100/per person. Hours are 8-5, with last entry at 4. Note that in the height of summer, December and January, they may have only morning hours.

We went there in December, We were staying at Ugab Lodge and saw that Brandberg was not far off so we traveled to see the Mountain. We arrived around lunch time and the sun was at its hottest, so i would say its best to go in the Morning! We had a Guide that was very informative and Friendly! The Mountain is Huge, we hiked inside to the Whit Lady Paintings which was fun if you like hiking, 1 hour in 1 hour out, take lots of water! Scenery is Beautiful!

When you visited the organ pipes burnt mountain is just around the corner. In fact it is just a mountain with a different color then the surrounding, maybe out of a vulcanic activity in a far past. If you were not in the area or passing by it would not be worth the extra kms

I could not work myself up to any level of interest in this patch of dark earth......it may well be very old, but so are a lot of rocks in the area. But it is not arduous to get to them......
