I visited Seychelles 3 times (Mahe, La Digue, Praslin, Cuirieuse and St Pierre)... everything is magical but by far the best thing was the La Digue guided tour to Anse Marron (3 hours hike from Grand Anse to Source D’Argent) with professional and very kind guide Henry... walking through the forest and mangroves, crawling through narrow rocks, climbing the Seychelles rocks... 1.5-2 hours lunch break at Anse Marron with natural pool full of colorful fish... it was spectacular!
Finishing the tour at Robinson Cruso beach in National park
This tour is not good for small kids and people who are not fit.
Don’t miss the chance to experience this exciting adventure with #ladigueparadisetours

As we could not find a guide to bring us to Anse Marron from Anse Source d'Argent (back and forth), we tried our luck by ourselves.
The most important is to carefully check the tides schedule.
We started early morning (7am), 2h before low tide. The first part -in water- was easy, you definitely get wet up to your waist.
Arriving at the boulders section, we got stuck after climbing several ones (be careful). We tried for 30mins to find the way but we could not. As we were giving up and turning around, we met a local who was king enough to show us the way: actually very easy, you do not need to climb all boulders (just a few ones) but there is a tiny path to the right through the trees/bushes.
After that, you reach a long beach where -at the end of it- you go into the forest to walk the last part, very easy.
Then you reach Anse Marron, the most beautiful beach in La Digue (and the Seychelles?). We stayed there one hour, all alone. Most guided trail only start at 8.30am so you'll have plenty of time (if the tide schedule also fits).
The walk back was very easy and fast (45mins).
In the end, no guide is needed at all if you just go that part back and forth even though they will tell you otherwise. They're trying to protect their business.

We went with Robert on an Anse Maron tour. A very intelligent guide. We learned a lot of interesting things about the local flora and fauna. Supervised everyone when passing difficult sections of the route. He showed picturesque places, told about local traditions. During the excursion, he treated me to fruits and sweets in a gorgeous bay.
I recommend Robert and his excursions.

I visited Anse Marron on a guided trip, kayaking from Anse Source d'Argent and then hiking through the jungle, rocks, and ocean. I would not have found this on my own (or likely have gotten there safely - as it was I slipped once and ended up with a nasty cut). Please be careful.
The granite rocks are stunning. Having all once been underwater, the shape and smoothness of the rocks is something I've never experienced before. But while beautiful, they also make climbing more difficult (add water....and very slippery!).
The beach here was stunning, but what made this area stand out to me was the way the granite boulders form pools of ocean water - which were not-so-calm, as we went at sundown (beautiful location to watch early sunset) and the currents were very strong. Many of our group didn't stay in the water long due to the current. I stayed in but was constantly tugged back and forth - with sinking sand beneath my feet and slippery rocks on all sides. Again - enjoy carefully!

MUST READ BEFORE GOING
Never go without a guide! Why? When we walked the tour today (26-1-2020) with a guide we found a young man dead on the rocks between Anse Source D’Argent and Anse Martin (around Anse aux Cedres). The poor guy went without a guide and really unfortunately paid with his life (it seemed that he tried to walk via the high dangerous part while the safe path was via the low part). I’m so sorry for his family and loved ones and would like to send my deepest condolences to them.
There are several post here at TripAdvisor which suggest you can easily do the tour yourself which is really misleading (!!!) and make people take great risks with their lives. Because of these posts I also considered going by myself as they made it seem easy but my gut feeling happily told me to go with a guide. Maybe they are experienced rock climbers (which most of us are not) and completely walked the same safe route as the guides do (which I highly doubt because of the below reasons)?!
I myself am really fit and I must say that it’s not easy and a really tricky tour without proper guidance going from Grand Anse beach to Anse Marron and than further to Anse Source D’Argent. Please note the following:
- You need to be fit and the safe route is very hard to be found;
- the walk includes climbing through small areas below the rocks (which prevents you having to climb the dangerous upper rocks where one could easily slip) and you are walking through really dense jungle areas;
- I’m 100% certain that people trying to do it themselves will not take the same safe road (meaning take a more risky road) as I really simply sometimes could not see where we would go next (and even surprised me as the more logical way to me looked differently);
- you need to wear proper hiking shoes to prevent any slipping. You will also walk parts through the water (even at low tide when we went);
- never go when it has rained or will be raining. It will be very slippery on the rocks.
With a guide you are able to enjoy this nice experience and they take no risk at all with any of the customers. They for example don’t go when it has rained and for them the safety of their customers is o so important because an heavy injury or death will mean closure of their business and possibly even prison time.
So please use this information so you can make a well informed decision on what to do. The tour itself is really nice and you see some great beaches but not worth dying for when you take excessive risks by going by yourself.
Ps:
1. for clarity I’m not at all involved with any tour guides what so ever. With this post I want to prevent any more people getting hurt because saving the small amount of money is not worth it!
2. Please LIKE and share the post to bring it to the attention of as much people as possible.
3. I’m attaching some nice photos I took because the tour is nice and this post is not meant to discourage anybody from going, but I do want you to be well informed.

This is one of the beaches we were taken to during the organised cruise between the main islands of Seychelles (Praslin, La Digue, Mahe). Nice, white sand, pictoresque rocks surround the place. Huge ocean waves make swimming a very risky adventure here. The beach is located nearby a pretty nice local restaurant (delicions fresh fish!).

This was probably the best day on Seychelles for us. The trail is not too demanding, virtually anybody can do it. But you really need non-slippery shoes for safe walking on the rocks which I did not have. I had to go barefoot some places which was OK too. Our guide provided very clear instruction for passing some difficult places. Lunch served on Anse Marron was delicious. Don’t forget 2 liters of water per person, not less! We did the trail with Sunny Trail agency. All perfect. Recommended!

Hello. I would like to hike to Anse Marron for sunrise. Is this possible? I am a fit and experienced hiker, but want to know if it is possible with the tides/darkness before sunrise. I plan to be there in May. Please let me know!

Hi Monica
I would contact Robert Agnes at Sunny Trail Guides, he will be happy to answer your question. My guess it's quite doable as he mentioned to me that it's possible to go earlier than the normal 7.45 start.

Thanks for the tip! How did you find Robert? How do you get to Anse Marron from Mahe? How much did it cost?
Thanks!

Flo.
