I recently went to the performance of Young Frankenstein at this small, intimate theatre. The actors/singers delivered an extraordinary show - a little taste of Broadway for a reasonable price! There is a restaurant on sight for drinks and snacks, and parking is a bit tight. The Forestburgh Theatre is about an hour from lower Orange County, NY.

Attending a performance at the Forestburgh Playhouse is much more than a night of engaging, professional theater. The enjoyment began on the scenic and tranquil, forest-lined drive to the theater and continued before the show began as we wandered through the well kept gardens and relaxed on the outdoor patio, drink in hand. When it was time to take our... More

We did the dinner show which was surprisingly good. Both the buffet and the Music Man exceeded our expectation. The place is beautiful and the cast were very enthusiastic.

A long weekend in Upstate NY is not complete without a visit to the Forestburgh Playhouse. Broadway performances are given in quiet beautiful surroundings. My husband and I visited the playhouse to see an amazing production of 42nd St. The cast was extremely talented and it felt as if we were actually in Manhattan, but without the noise, traffic or... My friend and I had the pleasure of attending 42nd Street last night and let me just say I couldn't be more impressed. The professionalism and talent shown by the staff and actors was just wonderful. I have been to many Broadways show, however I love the community atmosphere provided by this theater. Right from the beginning I was greeted... More

The seating in this theater is horrible. As soon as I sat down in the narrow seat my knees were uncomfortably pressed against the seat in front of me. I immediately went to the box office to seek seating that fit adults. They were able to offer other equally small seats with no legroom or knee room. I opted for... More

Thank you so much for your constructive feedback! When I purchased the theatre last year, I certainly was aware that an overhaul of the seating was necessary. Thanks to the support of our patrons and generous donors, WE WILL HAVE BRAND NEW SEATING FOR THE 2016 SUMMER SEASON! Change takes time, and costs money. As a non-profit, we have exceeded... More

Let me start by saying that we have been patrons of the Forestburgh Playhouse for 15 years and enjoy attending the performances. When we first started going to the Playhouse, seats were coveted. The annual subscriptions for the seats were at a premium. Many subscribers had to wait until seats became available to obtain better seats. Virtually all performances were... More

My husband and I attended the playhouse on a Sunday afternoon. We were thrilled with the production but very disappointed no food was available at the adjoining tavern at all. We had arrived early in anticipation of a light lunch. At intermission we were able to get soda at the bar. We asked if there were any refreshments available and... More

I love this theatre. This is the third year we have had season tickets. I wish I could take it to California with me

This theater is a gem. We went twice already this season and we are going again on Thursday night. We took 6 grandchildren ages 4 through 9 to see Shrek and they loved it. I wish that there was a different children's show this summer so that I could take them again.
