This is a very nice place to take a walk, a run or even a bike ride....but not in the middle of winter! I was out on the Canal walkway this past weekend and enjoyed the scenery of the canal and the old building built...More

Beautiful waterway with something always happening. One can canoe, kayak or tour via the Colonial Belle. Great walkways and bike riding paths!!

We crossed the canal multiple times while visiting Rochester and the Finger Lakes Region. Some sections of the canal have walking paths along it so you can enjoy the historic canal.

Spring & Fall are iffy weather-wise...unless you're unbothered by rain/rain showers. September is the month I suggest.

Yes, there are lodging choices nearby. Closest is Hampton Inn Rochester-Penfield. Nicest [my opinion], still pretty close & reasonably priced, is Woodcliff Hotel & Spa in Fairport. Enjoy!!
