Nice stroll and beautiful view. Places to park are plenty. Wonderful array of restaurants to dine at once you're done walking.

Whether you are running, hiking, blading or biking, the Erie Canal is the perfect spot to do it! The scenery is beautiful with sparkling waters dotted with weeping willows and woodlands that afford views to all kinds of ducks and wildlife. It really is a spectacular scene that will make you come back for more time and time again.

Had read and viewed documentaries of this masterpiece of civil engineering. Interesting to see how it has become a part of the landscape. Without signs it could be mistaken for a natural river. The thing that made NYC so important.

The Erie Canal in Fairport is a wonderful place to stroll around and see the sights. There are a lot of good restaurants in the area, and it's also fun to just walk around and look at all the old sights. Very historic as well! Try stopping by sometime for the Fairport Canal Days Festival, too!

Run,walk, dog walk, bike, row, kayak, from several ports, town to town. My two favorite are Pittsford and Fairport, each offering nearby eateries, or ice cream, a place to feed the ducks, or listen to music. Every season has something to offer and it's safe and friendly. You can even rent a pack boat to motor along for a week of history and relaxation checking out... More

The "Eire Canal" was constructed in the early 1800s as a water way between the Great Lakes and the Atlantic (via the Hudson River). It has changed a bit since it was constructed, but most of it is original and that which is not is still pretty old. You can visit locks, special little parks, go fishing (you won't catch... More

The Erie Canal is a magnificent accomplishment. I have lived near it for 30 year, rode on it, written about it, and seen a number of towns along the way. Fairport NY has a great development on its banks, good restaurants, scenic views, nice walkways, and the canal is kept clean. Plus, you get to say a lot of boaters,... More

What a great place to call home, hubby's childhood home. Many long time friends as well as extended family live, work and play in Fairport, New York. We enjoyed seeing the recent construction and new businesses along the canal. Lunch at Dalia's Mediterranean Deli was fabulous as was dinner at Midvale County Club. Three cheers to Fairport Class of '56.
