    Wonderful art and grounds
The museum is on lovely grounds and the art is pretty nice too. We saw an exhibit of the retired baseball player Randy Johnson's photos of Africa and early American art. Well worth a visit.

    A Must-See
This museum is an absolute gem! In addition to the Native American art collection we were fortunate to be there during a special M.C. Escher exhibit that was extraordinary in its depth. There was also a great temporary exhibit of Randy Johnson’s (the retired pitcher) photographs. Don’t miss this museum.

Excellent special exhibitions and permanent collection in lovely setting
Special exhibitions, MC Escher and Day to Night: Photographs by Stephen Wilkes are well worth seeing. Wish I was to be in the area for upcoming Arnold Loebel exhibition and Frog and Toad play. We also enjoyed Shakespeare’s The Tempest at their amphitheater on the lake. The balls eagle flying back and forth over the lake was and added bonus. The setting and building are lovely, the permanent collections include interesting pieces and the Native American wing is especially good. Wish they had more room to display more of their collection but rotating it makes repeated visits worthwhile.

    Take your time here
We had never been to this wonderful museum in spite of having grown up in the area & visiting several other museums in Cooperstown in the past. We spent almost 4 hours here including having a small lunch from the cafe on the back patio. We joined in 2 of the group tours with docent, Laura, who was excellent. We learned so much more than if we had wandered through on our own. The museum is quite large. It was built as a 42 room mansion but was never occupied as a private home. The patio & gardens out behind the cafe are gorgeous & well worth wandering on to even if you don't eat there. The museum is a good value too ($12.50 for seniors). We are so glad we had time to truly take our time exploring this gem.

    Well worth your time
We will definitely second the excellent reviews preceding ours. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The variety, quality, and display of the exhibits is extremely well done. If you enjoy art, you will definitely enjoy the Fenimore. The outside grounds abutting the lake add to the total experience especially on a beautiful day.

Amazing art from the area and mostly late 1700s-mid 1800s and a rotating installation of more current artists, illustrators on the upstairs floors. native American presentation on the lower floors.

Great little museum set on beautiful grounds! We went for the Escher exhibit and weren't disappointed! It was fun to see the other exhibits as well.

I was here this past weekend. I really enjoyed the exhibits. There was a room for James Fenimore, that was interesting. An exhibit for Randy Johnson's photography, those were some pretty amazing shots he got! Did you know he is a photographer? There was a room with all kinds of differ tribal wear on display, and that was quit fascinating!
If you venture out to Cooperstown and you're not that interested in baseball, you should really check it out the FenimoreAt Museum. It's inexpensive and takes just between one and two hours to go through.

While I generally agree with the bulk of the reviews that this is a great museum, I think the admission fee is a little high for what you get.

Terrific museum with so much to see. From the core collections of native American art and artifacts to the special exhibits of art of Venice to drawings and sketches by the Wyeths to pen and ink caricatures by Al Herschfeld. Views of Lake Otsego from the museum patio are an added treat.
