My first visit to the Fenimore. Beautiful building and grounds. Spent several hours without seeing everything. Fantastic collection of Native American artifacts including a long house reconstruction. They also have a nice Thomas Cole exhibit currently. Not certain for how long. Really enjoyed my visit.

The Native American collection ranks among the best anywhere. Displays allow for excellent viewing - well lit and described. Went to see the Hudson Valley works, Cole et al,, which were worth the visit alone. A beautiful building, spectacular grounds with a wonderful area outside...More

A real surprise---they have a great collection of Native American artifacts, and some really nice Early Americana. Outside is gorgeous as well, though I was there on a rainy day....,

Delightful, well-curated museum offering a surprisingly broad selection of surprisingly engaging exhibits in a lovely old home and setting. A lovely 90 minutes or so in itself, and a welcome contrast to the tackiness of Main Street.

No matter where I travel, I try to include visits to museums. It can be any type of museum and while I am partial to the more unusual museums, I still like the traditional museum options and that includes art. So, when the chance arose...More

The buildings and grounds alone are beautiful. Many great works of art to view with a lot of historical perspective.

Excellent display of art. We were amazed at the Thaw collection of American Indian Art. Looking at these pieces makes you wonder how long it took to complete a piece and then adorn horses and saddles with the craft work. Truly a collection worth seeing.

Mid week visit. The staff were friendly and helpful. The museum pleasantly quiet. Some very interesting exhibits to be found. My wife (who does not like museums) found this one both quaint and interesting. Various film series to attend, events to participate in too.

Visited an afternoon during the week prior to Christmas and had the museum almost to myself. Some exhibits are permanent, and others for a limited time. Really enjoyed history of figure skating and Lewis Hine photographs. Three levels, cafe and museum shop.

We saw a few other exhibits, and got a nice docent tour, but really this place is (perhaps) unparalleled for the collection of Native American art and artifacts. Piece after piece is stunning.
