The attraction for us was the Dick Button exhibit since my wife loves figure skating. That exhibit was very good as it provided a history of figure skating. The highlight for us, though, was the Thaw collection of American Indian Art. They have artifacts from all over North America broken down into 6 regions. This is probably one of the... More

The Fenimore was the better half of the twofer ticket for the Fenimore and Farm museums that we visited in one day. The building and grounds are spectacular. The exhibits are distributed over 3 floors. On our visit there was a Maurice Sendak exhibit (Where the Wild Things Are), Dick Button's ice skating collection, a Native American exhibit of artifacts,... More

My husband and I enjoyed a very pleasant visit to the museum. The museum is beautiful and sets right off the lake with astounding views. The exhibits were all very interesting and the atmosphere was quiet and friendly. The girl at the front desk was helpful and accommodating. She explained a little bit about the exhibitions, the locations and other... More

What a beautiful and informative museum! A room about J. Fenimore Cooper items, local sights mentioned in his books, and quotes; temporary exhibits on Where the Wild Things Are author Maurice Sendak & on figure skating in the arts; an exhibit on the Adam Burr vs. Alexander Hamilton duel; Native American, American folk art, and New York scenes -- each... We visited the Fenimore in April of 2016. A lovely art museum in a special setting. The highlight for me was the exhibit of early Ansel Adams photographs.

An unbelieveable selection of art and artifacts. This is a great place for adults as well as kids. Nice sandwich shop too. The views of the lake from the patio tables are worth the visit

This was a surprisingly nice museum in town that I did not expect. They had a nice variety of exhibits and the building is absolutely beautiful. It is right on the lake, so a stroll around back is a must.
