My date and I enjoyed the Whaling Museum and learned a lot about Long Island's whaling industry from the various exhibits, artifacts and interactive things throughout the museum. Great place to take older kids, too, for a wonderful and fun learning experience.

The whaling museum looks tiny from the outside but it is filled with so many details about whaling. It is worth a visit if you are ever nearby.

I've been here numerous times. The museum is small, but is the only place I know of where kids (and adults) can learn about whaling. They have some beautiful pieces of scrimshaw.

This place is a nice place to learn about how harsh whaling was. We stopped here right after we ate lunch at the sandbar. Once we entered it I saw a lot of crimshaw. The guy with the information was telling us all about it...More

Located in the heart of town. Interesting history of whaling and how it was part of Long Island. Very educational displays. If traffic is light, ask them to play the 11 min. video. Without the video, allow 1 hour. Street parking.
