The Mansion tour is self guided, but there are docents to answer questions. Almost all rooms are open to walk through, rather than viewing from behind a rope. The Mansion is not air conditioned, and I would recommend getting there when they open. There are...More

We recommend the tour! We walked around ourselves and it was gorgeous, but we missed the mansion. It was still spectacular.

We decided to take the parents on an adventure. A place they've never been to. They've lived here since 1982 & have never venture out to a romantic place on its time. A nice day we had, just the 4 of us; enjoying the gardens,...More

We toured Sonnenberg in late May....perhaps a little to early to fully appreciate the gardens. It would have been lovely to see the roses in bloom. The free tram offers visitors with limited walking abilities to be able to see all the gardens along with...More

It's true the rich are different. Not too many people can have acres of gardens surrounding an country retreat. Built in the second half of the 19th century, Sonnenberg offers today's visitors an expansive glimpse of yesteryear. The estate, maintained by over 30 gardeners and...More

These were amazing gardens but we were here too early. There weren't flowers in bloom yet, except for some iris and a few poppies. It must be amazing when everything is in season. They had a trolley to take you from the entrance to the...More

Just like all the other reviews, you should definitely check out this place. Great outdoor space to get some exercise and enjoy the beautiful gardens. The mansion was so unique. Usually older mansions like this are very Civil War American, but not this one. You...More

Yes, you may take picture in the mansion.
Someone mentioned that they ate at the café. Is there food available onsite? I also read that there is a tram. Is that available and what is the cost? What is the entry fee? I went to the website, but this information is not available. We will be in Canandaigua on Tuesday and are planning on visiting the gardens. Is there parking available? Thanks
