Bear Mountain State Park has some wonderful hiking trails that are clearly marked. Cascade is probably the easiest hike but they have more difficult trails that have rocky terrain. Stunning vistas and they have family fun in the park with a zoo, a picnic area...More
the park is great,but it get VERY busy on the weekend best to get the early. The restaurant is not that good, limited menu. Best to have a drink in front of the fireplace in the winter.
Back in the 50 to early 70s this may have been a good family place. I did not want to leave anything unattended. I would definitely never go there again, it felt like I got off at a wrong subway, not comfortable.
Pleasant people beautiful surroundings. There are bears deer fox , Very rustic. Scenery is amazing lakes and row boating . Swimming is allowed in certain areas .Great for a day at the woods

Great park that includes a zoo, carousel, hiking , restaurants and gift shop. The zoo is very nice with great views of the Hudson. The restaurant upstairs has good food. They offer a buffet brunch on Sundays which is good.
