The hike itself was very enjoyable. Getting to the lake is mostly uphill, and when I went June 9th, there was a lot of snow. It made for a pretty icy and slushy hike, which was difficult with a toddler in a backpack. The view...More

A little difficult to find the trailhead, but a wonderful walk -- July/August has an explosion of great wildflowers and "wild" mushrooms.

I've been to Williams Lake several times and love it. The views are amazing and the hike up is tough, but short. I went three times this summer (June, July and August of 2016). When I hiked there in June, there was still a lot...More

This is worth the day trip. From the town of Taos, Taos Ski Valley is about 40 minute drive. The hike is worth the time. Remember you are going to over 9,000 feet in the Ski Valley and then higher to the Lake, so if...More

If you are in shape and acclimated to altitude, this is an easy hike. Rocky road initially, I wore hiking shoes which were perfect, although a good pair of sturdy walking shoes will do fine. Person I hiked with was in fair shape and not...More

4 miles round trip. not too steep. it is a popular trail for a good reason, the view at the top is stunning. the first third is basically a road, then it narrows to more of a trail.

From the Taos Ski Basin this is a short mostly up hill hike/walk. Sneakers are fine. If you plan to go on to climb Wheeler Peak then a more aggressive hiking shoe is wise. This is a beautiful and easy walk. Well worthit

This is a "must do" hike when visiting the Taos Ski Valley. I have done the hike several time-each time I go to Taos. I have snowshoed in winter, but my favorite hike is in October when the leaves turn golden, and the temperature is...More

Hello, my husband and I want to hike to see Williams Lake during last weekend of April. How is the weather and will there be a lot of snow on the trail? I am in a decent physical shape and I have done few day hikes, but never hiked in winter/snow.
