The home and museum are a joy to visit. New Mexico history is intertwined with Kit Carson. The story of New Mexico territory becoming part of the US has Kit Carson's footprint on it as well. The museum highlights his live, adventures as a scout, and significance in American History.

The name Kit Carson didn't mean that much to me, he's not as well know as Daniel Boon or Lewis & Clarke.

Stopped here on a whim... Admission was reasonable... Video excelled... Home and furnishings were mostly from that era 😀

Walking around Taos, we came across this small museum. What an interesting story is told here of a figure who is central to the history of the west. There is an informative video, many artifacts from his life and of the times, photos of him and his family - and of course the family home in Taos. Well worth the... More

The video did a graet job. Guft shop was cool. The museum and artifacts were cools. Good way to learn about the local history. Centrally located off the main drag in town and shares an alley with Taos Inn.

Looks rather run down from the outside but is still being restored. Interesting film made by the History channel with Carson's great great grandson playing the man and looking uncannily like the original! Worth a look in.

Kit Carson's story is a fascinating one of the old west. The curator of the museum didn't attempt to romanticize the man--- life in the west was hard. He was married three times and had many many children. In spite of his small stature he was larger than life. The house in Taos is one of many he lived in,... More

October 21, 2016 - While touring various cities and sights in New Mexico, we had to visit Kit Carson's home and his grave. It only costs $7 adult or $6 senior to visit the house and museum. You enter the house off of a courtyard and step into the gift shop where you pay the admission. Depending upon when you... More

The tour here starts with a 20 minute presentation on the life of Kit Carson. The home has been nicely restored. There are numerous displays of related artifacts. There is also a nice shop.

A short peek into an immensely interesting life. I bought "Blood and Thunder" by Hampton Sides when leaving. Read it, or any biographical material on Kit Carson, before you go.
