Awesome Ride to the TOP

Great tram ride to the top of Sandia Crest. We were able to stay at the crest and hike around. We took the second to last tram down and saw a beautiful sunset to boot!

An Amazing views while driving to the top, over 10000 feet. It is cooler than town at the top. It takes about 1/2h drive there and another back - and well worth.

Drove up to the top of the byway, after paying for a $3 day pass, and our 80 degree day turned into the 50s by the time we got to the peak. Limited parking so on busier days it may be difficult to find a spot, but once a spot was nabbed, we walked around in the snow and enjoyed... More

A half hour drive from downtown rewards with mountain air and a beautiful evergreen forest dotted with Aspen. It must be beautiful in the fall but it was great in April for our visit. Fascinating to see the desert and the city below.

The tram was closed for maintenance while we were in Albuquerque so we drove to the top. It was a very nice drive up there and the view was excellent. We took a short walk on a trail to the south of the visitors center that went right along the edge of the drop off...nice. Depending on the time you... More

I drove all the way to the the top of Sandia Crest. From there, you can look down below to smoggy Albuquerque. There is about a 20 degree difference in temperature between Albuquerque and Sandia Crest. When I was there in March, the temperature in Albuquerque was in the 70s, and on Sandia Crest there was snow. Also at the... More

Just the ride on the tram to the top was worth going. The trails at the top of the crest are beautiful and there are overlooks that you can see all the way down to the city. We went on a day that it started to snow and it was breathtaking! Even in the snow the trails are well marked... More

Take the drive up the backside of the Sandia Mountains to reach the crest and look down on Albuquerque from almost 11,000' asl. Take a hike on the trails and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate in the gift shop. Along the winding drive to the crest if you look carefully you'll probably see some deer along the road as... More

The drive up Sandia Crest was a nice little drive. We drove to the top which gave us nice views; however the little gift shop/cafe was underwhelming. There was a 20 degree difference between the top of the mountain and the base.

Living in FL, I missed the snow and wanted to see some so we drove up Sandia Crest Byway. It was a nice drive to the top. A little scary at times since the road wasn't completely clear from snow in some areas but everything was fine. There were people sledding in certain areas. Wish we would have taken a... More
