We went there 17 years ago on our honeymoon then again at 10 year anniversary. We took a trip back just this week because we were in New Mexico and were in the area. The place is open April to October but we saw the owner outside and she offered for us to come in early and look around. She... More

Lots of visual stimuli . Fun items and the unique. Children love it . Easy to find and on the way to top of Sandia crest.

October 6, 2016 - While visiting Albuquerque for the hot air balloon festival, we decided to drive out toward Turquoise Highway to see the Tinkertown Museum. Admission is a nominal $3 for seniors. Upon paying the admission, you get a quarter to drop into the first animated exhibit that also plays country music. You should get a few quarters because... More

The website describes this as "22 rooms overflowing with ingeniously carved creatures, animated scenes, and astounding collections of folk art". There's so much to see as you wind your way through the amazing exhibits that it felt like more than 22 rooms. Some of the animated exhibits require quarters; they give you one when you buy your tickets, but bring... More

Worth a drive and definitely allot the time to spend a couple of hours at least. This warren of amazing collections from dolls to art to carnival items to knives is only surpassed by the mind-boggling workd of miniatures. Ross Ward, master woodworker and artist created a whole wild west town in miniature along with a circus and other art..... More

My wife and I visited the museum on the recommendation of our adult children. We were not disappointed. They have an amazing collection of exhibits. We especially liked the circus layouts, complete with automated figures and wonderful colors. This is a great place to spend a few hours, young and old alike.

The cost is next to nothing but the exhibits are claustrophobic and silly. Not worth the stop for any age group.

This quirky little place would be a perfectly fine stop on the drive up to Sandia Peak if not for the lingering racism and urine. Several displays include figurines in blackface and most of the outdoor area reeks of cat urine. It seems like both problems could be easily cleaned up.

This is one of the most amazing collections of everything you will ever see. The location is about 20 minutes out of Albuquerque. You pay a small admission fee and the sites you see are well worth it. The pictures and reviews do not do justice to this attraction.

Really enjoyed the museum. Lots to see and do. If you're a crafty person, you will be challenged by the tinkering done here.
