We were in town to soak up the Space Alien atmosphere. Walking around the downtown area sets you in the center of all the hokey tourist souvenirs. We walked into several to scope out the offerings but I passed on all but a tiny green spaceman. Some of the buildings are beautiful architecturally, most are just older buildings updated to... If you are old enough to remember the 1990s t.v. show "X-Files", you really need to see Roswell. After all, the alien theme is what put this sleepy eastern New Mexico town "on the map". And, they play it for all it is worth. They have an alien museum in the old movie theater downtown, and there are mural and... More

I like Roswell, and its downtown is quirky with all the UFO/Alien stuff. Get some cheap souvenirs and a cup of coffee and enjoy.

I personally like walking downtown and in the historic area. Take a walk down second street and visit the Historical Museum then circle back through the sides streets to Main - makes for a nice, scenic walk.

Other than subway, there are only two Mexican eateries on the "Main" street. The UFO museum was worth the trip. The drive from Las Cruces was breath taking and Fox's Cave (where Billy the Kidd hid) was/is a must see. Pistachioland has free samples of at least 20 different pistachios and free wine tasting. The UFO museum requires a lot... More

We had high hopes of learning more about alien landings in Roswell, but you won't find it here. Main street is full of stores with plastic blow up aliens and lots of t-shirts, but nothing you can't find online. We skipped the museum because of their reviews and lack of interest from my kiddos. We did stop in the Alien... More

In one respect it's nice to see an area that wouldn't have changed much from the 50's, although most of the shops now sell UFO souvenirs and why not!
